Just got one this last Christmas and HOORAY!!! I just found out I am a lazy fatass. The goals that this sets up for you makes you realize how sedentary our lives are. 10,000 steps is a lot. My sleep is for shit. It said I got up twice and was restless 3X... My bride confirmed it. She said "I TOLD YOU you sleep like crap" So who else got one? My guitarist's bride got him one as well. |

Quoted: waste of money. i dont need a wrist watch to tell me i'm overweight. Join a gym. B. I am a gym member C. Its better to actually see progress than "Hmmm I think I did well today" Not arguing... just its nice to have tools to work with that can improve what you are already doing. |

Do you have to have a smart phone for the Fitbit to work? I am still sporting a vintage 2012 era flip phone!
My old man recently picked up a unit from Garmin. You HAVE to pair it with a PC (unit comes with a usb bluetooth adapter). It won't work with a smartphone. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

My guitarist's bride got him one as well. my wife had one when she first started working out. Now that's shes much more advanced in her workouts, she has Garmin ForRunner and has a bunch of other features. Anyway, I take the Fitbit to work and average 15,000 steps a day and I don't even work out at all. |

just got the Flex. Liking it a lot except I messed up putting it into sleep mode last night and it thinks I was up walking around till 4 am.
Synced it to my phone which doesnt seem to update right from the wrist band - have to be near the module thats plugged into the USB on the computer for it to actually sync, but t e app on the phone still lets you input stuff. Im not trying to lose anything so its just a workout programmer for me since I hate running with my phone for the gps and Nike app to work. Was showing someone my graph yesterday and they asked what the "intense exercise" was that only lasted for two minutes... I was bringing in a load of fire wood, I swear. |

Why would you send information about where you are and what you are doing 24 hours a day to anyone, much less a company that hasn't agreed to not sell that information to anyone with money and interest?

I know a bunch who have one. Like most novelty doodads they averaged wearing it about two weeks. I'm sure they now reside in many kitchen junk drawers. I did that at first, but found it and put it back on the next time I went on a fitness kick. The second time I wore it for about six months. Putting a red band on it helped a lot - it's a lot harder to leave it sitting on the sink. |

Got the charge for Christmas...actually just got out of my work car and did a "foot patrol" at the park. Steps were pretty damn accurate from my counts. Neat gadget...add this to my OCD and I just have to get to a certain level. Haven't figured out the sleep part yet though...it appears you don't have to do anything but mine hasn't showed shit on the dashboard. |

I just got a Gamrin vivosmart. Our company Wellness committee implemented it into their system. If you bought one you are eligible for 15% off the insurance next year. And they paid for most of it. I think I paid $70.
It has inspired me to start running again. And I always thought I slept good but realize I toss and turn a lot. My job requires I sit at a desk all day so seeing just how little walking I actually do is a little disheartening. I like it. |

If you have a smartphone, you are doing the same thing. At best, the phone only knows where it is when it is allowed to transmit, and it isn't with me 24/7, nor does it know anything about me If you are using a credit card, you are doing the same thing.
If you have a GPS in your car, you are doing the same thing. the GPS in my car may know where it is, but that data doesn't get sent anywhere. Quoted:

Do you seriously have no idea what kind of information you are giving away to Fitbit, in order for them to make money selling that information to anybody who wants to buy it? It's fine if you don't care, but it boggles my mind that people would pay someone to collect data about them and then let those people do whatever they want with that data. |

It wasn't logging any sleep, even though I dozed off for an hour. Turns out you need to tap it for two seconds to put it in sleep mode, and the same for when you wake up, otherwise it won't log sleep correctly. That's kind of a pain, but since that's the only reason I have it, I guess I'll make do. |

It doesn't have GPS. It doesn't know where you are. I have had the One for over a year now. I don't want anything on my wrist. |

Have one, meh.
It's ok, keeps you honest if you track your intake and kind of motivates a little. They break frequently, I'm on my second, wife is on her second, and several others I know have had them break. They replace them fairly easily. Over all, meh. It's a pedometer. |

I got my sister one last year for Christmas. It recently broke and one of my nephews got her another one. It does kind of get her walking and stuff but her diet isn't very good. Quoted:

I found it did help keep me honest when I logged my food intake and helped keep me under my caloric goals. But you have to be disciplined enough to log it and be consistent. Unfortunately lately it's been a blinky bracelet, I need to get back into the routine. And there is the competitive aspect if you want to link to other people, you can see how you perform against them. For whatever that's worth. |

Got my wife a Garmin Vaviosmart for Xmas, she's digging it so. I chose the Garmin due it having some watch-like features and interfacing to an iPhone. I've read that Fitbit has zero plans to integrate into Apple's HealthKit if that's important. |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile The two units Viviosmart and the older model, both sync to an iPhone with application. The Forerunner Garmin GPS running/cycling watches only sync to PC but both product lines have different applications. The Garmin Forerunners are great for runners but are not an 'activity' watch as it does not track sleep or stress tracking. The Vivio line prompts users to 'move' based on goals and learned activity levels plus it tracks sleep cycles and steps made but does not have a GPS. |
