i've been curious about a good quality flamethrower myself, but the thought of accidents keeps me from getting one.

i'll stick to a lighter and aerosol cans for my flamethrowing needs

You can make your own for less than a buck. When I was a kid I would save empty windex bottles. You need the ones with the round adjustable nozzles NOT the square ones with the OFF, SPRAY, STREAM selection.

Now turn the nozzle to the finest stream setting, then back it off a quarter turn. Now find a 100% wire coat hanger. Unbend it and make it as straight as possible. Take wire cutters or tin snips and remove the J shaped end. Now you have a 18-24 inch piece of heavy wire. Bend the hanger into and L shape. The bottom of the L should be 1/3 the length of the hanger. Now duct tape the hanger to the bottle so the long part points in the direction of the nozzle. Then bend that part upwards at about a 45 degree angle. Now take some plyers and bend the end of the wire into an eyelet just below and at least 4 inches in front of the nozzle.

Now fill your bottle with gasoline. Then put a strip of cloth from an old t-shirt in the eyelet. Squirt the bottle a couple time to wet the cloth with gas and charge the flamethrower. Next take a lighter and light the T-shirt. That is your wick. It will last for several bursts. Now squeeze the pump grip and you can shoot flames up to three feet.

I used to do this all the time. However use at your own risk.

Does the guy at Knob Creek still do the flamethrower rentals? It's been 2 yrs since I've been. It was a hoot to see someone torch a car with one.

As I mentioned on another post like this, go talk to the guys at the site linked to below. They have a forum where you can ask questions. I think I saw a M2A1 wand for sale there too. Those guys know all about building *real* millitary style flamethrowers
