How the fuck do you become good at it?![]() I've been attempting the 747, and I try to follow the "flight notes", but I never seem to be able to do it. When I attempt to land.. I am generally always too high or too low in the approach... Help?

It's called practice, and learning to trust the "by the book" method. It's airspeed, glideslope, and flaring at the RIGHT time. My preferred sim is the current, very updated version of Falcon 4.0, Allied Force. I eventually got to the point that my landings are my best skill. I can pull off landing stunts that nobody would dare try in real life, and grease it in smoothly at the last moment. It all comes down to one simple rule: Contact the ground GENTLY at the DESIRED spot and facing in the DESIRED direction. The rest is just details. Use the runway lights. They indicate whether or not you're on, above, or below the glideslope. CJ |
I have been playing FSM since 2000. ![]() ![]() Haven't got the hang of it yet. |

What kind of controller are you using? That can make a megaton of difference. I use the Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS system. It's about 300 bucks before mods, but it's the best system of its type on the market, beyond a doubt. It's also application-specific for F-16 based simulation as it's a close copy of the F-16's own throttle and stick. But it can be used for precision flying in any sim. CJ |

I play it all the time. I like flying the helos the best. The controller you have makes a big differance. landing the big jets takes a lot of practice. It's great when you can put them down just right on a tiny little runway and stop before you run out of concrete. -Mark! |

+1 on a good controller and practice.... a long time ago I started using a FF Sidewinder JS.....now I use a yoke, rudder pedals and a throttle quadrant it's a huge difference. What version of FS are you using? (I'm running a heavily modified FS9...Ultimate Terrain, Ultimate Traffic, Active Sky, Radar Contact and much more) Are you jumping right into the Heavies or are you working your way up. It helps if you master the smaller GAs then work your way up. (GA-->Turbo Prop-->Biz Jet--->,and so on). Another thing, most of the stock aircraft handle like crap...there are a lot of Freeware aircraft that perform closer to the real thing(Check out the AVSIM forums)....Some of the Payware aircraft are simply incredible (The Dream Fleet Baron and the Aeroworx Super King Air B200 are my favorites). |
Microsoft Sidewinder Forcefeed Back Pro. $300? Yowzers. ETA: I am runnin FSX Deluxe. |
