i haven't been sick for almost a year, and then the army forces me to get a cold for two weeks damnit to hell!

| I don't know what it is about those Army flu shots but they'd knock me out for a couple of days. I'd get a fever, aches, it was practically the same as the "real" flu, though a shorter duration. I work in a civilian hospital now and the flu shots they have given me don't do a thing. |

Flu shots are actually one area of medicine where the money invested has returned huge returns. The problem is that the serotype of the Flu viruses change every year and they have to guess. Sometimes they are right and sometimes not so much. This year they will give you coverage for H1N1 which will protect you from Swine flu. Its worth the money to get your flu shots. |

Did you get the actual shot, or the flu-mist?
Hate to tell you, but since around '96, the military has been using a vaccine without a live virus, so it won't make you sick. Before that, I always got sick from the vaccine. Since the inception of the new vaccine, not a thing. The flu-mist uses a weakened live virus, if I have all of my information correct. I know a number of people have gotten sick from it. I'd say that you probably have a summer cold, unless you got some sort of new manbirdpig flu vaccine. |

Has anyone heard the PSA's about getting your swine flu shots? There is no f'ing way.
Apparently, they are going to try to force it starting in places like Mass. I don't know, if you come to my door and tell me I HAVE to take this shot I will be simply replying with shots of my own. |

As a guy who has had pneumonia and other issues the flu is not trivial to me. I have not had it since I started getting flu shots. And I do understand each flu is different and one day it won't work. Still getting them every year. |
