I got the shots. At the time, my employment was threatened by the Biden mandate. I had a decision to make, so I chose keeping my jerb. Thankfully, Trump's Supreme Court intervened afterwards & told Biden to fuck off. Threw away my card; no more shots after that. Say what you want about Trump; he has done quite a few right things. |

I was in the last few years of my mil career and a state employee at the time, both of which mandated it for continued employment. I didn't want it, but had a choice between a shot or stepping aside, being booted out, and letting someone else who took it take both of those jobs (which were senior leadership roles). Did I want it, hell no. Did I think it would work, hell no. Did I know I was being lied to, absolutely. I had one more tour overseas after the shot where I personally did some good, and looking at the crop of folks who took over after me in both careers I think I made the right "big picture" decision to hold my nose and take it and stay in 3 more years and at least delay the wave of people behind me and reduce their impact on several thousand other folks. |

I was on active duty when I got it and Trump was still president. At the time it was voluntary and hadn’t been politicized yet. My biggest reason was A) I figured it would become mandatory in both my civilian and military job and B) if I did have side effects, I wanted it to be tied to AD for VA benefits. It was a risk vs reward thing. I did get a pretty bad fever which was weird because I never had a vaccine reaction before. I also found it odd that this had a 48 hr flight restriction vs the standard 12 hrs. Regardless I have no long term ill effects that I know I of. If I do, at least I’ll get disability. ![]() |

I don’t understand the 20/20 hindsight shaming of conservatives who happened to make a different risk management decision based off very little concrete information. The thing people should be shamed for was the mandates. THAT was detestable… Making a personal decision about a private health matter is something entirely different. |

Too rushed and experimental for me. The fact that the mRNA vax hadn’t been approved for human testing until it was rushed to production during COVID was enough for me to stay away from it; the vax was originally targeted for the high-risk demographic so I wasn’t worried. Then the mandates came out and the fuck you flag was raised. |

I was an active duty, combat-deployed 11B infantryman with the 101st Airborne and I refused the vaccine. I received a GOMAR from my CG. They started the chapter process on me before I was medically discharged from injuries sustained on deployment. Never got the vaccination. Neither did my wife or children. I was 1 out 3 men in my entire battalion who refused the vax.. |

I know several who are still not fully recovered from bad cases of Covid that put them in the ICU prior to the vaccine becoming available. According to GD we should all be suffering from a variety of side effects or dead but my experience (which I realize is anecdotal) says that side effects were very rare. FWIW, my father worked in the biological warfare laboratory at Ft. Dietrich back in the bad old days. His military shot record was over 1/2" thick and included many, many, "untested" vaccines identified only by numbers because the viruses and bugs being tested were classified. That man never got sick and was otherwise in great health when he was finally felled by melanoma at age 75. |
