I play the hell out of the Flames of War (15mm WW2)!

I love the 40k universe and fluff.  The Dawn of War games are great.  I used to hate 40k (4th and 5th ed), but 6th ed. changed all that.  I just bought the new starter (Dark Vengence), traded off the Chaos Marines for another guys Dark Angels half, and managed to find the old starter used but still on the sprues for $25.  So I have 30 marines, 15 terminators, 6 bikes, 1 dreadnought, 2 librarians, and 3 company masters for $140.  I need to get more games in (only played a small one, but liked it) and figure out to paint.  I usually just let someone else paint my Germans for Flames, but the larger scale may be easier for me to do.

Hey now, I met my wife playing Magic... we were annoyed by the fat smelly kids too. Not all gamers are like that damn it!

Dont have the time or money for 40k anymore. Freaking land raider (an all plastic tank/IFV kit) is $60!

I do like their specialist games like Blood Bowl (fantasy football boardgamewith elves, orcs, etc) and Necromunda ( gang fights in 40k universe). Because you can build a team or gang for $50 and actually finish painting it since it is less than 20 models. Games play faster too. I also like the discontinued Dreadfleet.

The new chaos cultist models look sweet and are $2 per figure.

The store I frequent, owned by one of my best friends, will kick anyone out of the store if they're hygiene isn't up to snuff.  He'd rather have one less player in the store that day than that one running everyone off.

ETA:  He's not nice about it either.  It's awesome to see.  "Get out of my store and go take a shower you dirty fuck!"

I painted a US infantry Co and a Sherman tank platoon. Never again will I fool with painting 15mm infantry. I have been painting miniatures for 20 years.

I despise painting infantry.  The tanks I don't mind that much since they are larger and better detailed, plus I'm more interested in them all around!  Version 3 is a great rule set.

Ahh to be a small mom and pop shop instead of the corporate owned franchise example store

I was the lone R/C car guy in a store full of gamers , including the corporate staff

but it was to be expected 70% of the profit generated by that store was magic/yugio/pokimon/whatever stupid game of the week card sales

So any tips for a noobie to 40k?  Strategy/tactics for vanilla space marines or Dark Angels?  What would make good allies, IG?  What units?  The game plays completely differently than the games I've played in the past or currently played (Confrontation 3rd ed. and Flames).
