2000 explorer V8 throwing intermittent p0171 and p0174 codes. Cleaned MAF sensor, seemed to quiet things down a bit. Did it again this week and now I also get a p1507, IAC error. So I'm gonna replace the IAC, it's original with 260k miles.
1. Should I replace MAF at the same time? 2. Do I need to completely reset the PCM? Or will it readjust from possible bad values to correct ones? If I do need to reset, is there a procedure somewhere? Dave p.s. - Intermittent codes makes me lean towards an electrical/sensor issue, am I off base there? |

I second checking the PVC fitting. Its common for them to crack and cause a vacuum leak.
The IACs of that era aren't very good. Sometimes cleaning it will take care of it. You will need to reset the Keep Alive Memory or it will most likely idle very high for a while after replacing it. I either use a scan tool or fords IDS. I honestly don't know if there's another way it can be done. |
