This guy is local to me. Who's at fault here?
To be fair, this guy has a bio diesel plant (huge operation), and a gas station that only sells bio diesel. Fordfraud.com |
Why would you buy a new 350 every 2-3 years. 2-3 years isn't even enough time for the diesel to break in ![]() No but seriously, if he had a 7.3 and traded it in for a 6.0 or 6.4 he is retarded. Edit: After reading it, I am curious as to when the 6.7 came out. Did he get a 6.7 or did the dealer lie and say the 6.4 was redesigned. |

Not enough information. I'll bet that he did something to it constituting abuse/neglect and that is why the warranty will not be honored. It looks like he did exactly that by running an un-approved fuel through it, even though the sales guy said it was ok, despite the fact that the two previous trucks had the same problem. Now, the sales guy shouldn't have said what he did, but If I'd screwed up $100k worth of trucks doing something, I'd want more than a sales guy's word that the new model "fixed" the problem. |

Quoted: RTFM Owners manual says no more than 5% biodiesel He is an idiot This. So, the owner of the dealership where he bought the truck told him he could use ANY amount of biodiesel? Did he get that in writing, and did the dealer agree to indemnify him on possible damage to the motor? If not, well, too bad. I think he's SOL. |

Sounds like the Dealership told him the wrong information.
Sounds like the customer didn't read the owners manual. I am just curious how much biodiesel he ran. B20 should not cause the engine to fail. It will fill a filter cold, but not pop the engine. I am thinking that engine idled a long damn time to form a chunk of coke that big |

What a douchebag.
I had the exact opposite experience. Ford put over $10k in my wife's Contour about 6 years ago after it was WAY out of warranty (10 years old and 95k) because it had a "known issue" with the wiring harness. Car was only worth about $2500 at the time and they replaced nearly the entire electrical system (computers, wiring harness, PCM) and engine and gave me a rental of a brand new F-150 Supercrew 4x4 XLT for 6 weeks while the car was in the shop. I never saw the complete bill, but there was over $8k in parts alone...I can't imagine what the final cost was after labor and the rental. Thanks Ford Motor Company and Luther Family Ford in Fargo ND!!!!!! I'll never buy anything else. |

he should've checked to make sure the fuel was safe for the engine. Just because someone works at/ owns a dealership doesn't mean they know everything. The 6.7L that came in the '11 superduty is I believe the first diesel engine in a ford to be able to run a bio blend up to 20%. The truck he bought is a pre '11 model and has the 6.4L in it. Now the dealer that performed the repair should've changed the oil and the owner should've been smart enough to change it himself when told the dealer didn't do it. Actually i wouldn't have left the dealership without getting the oil changed.
I say the blame for the bad info and botched repair is the dealerships fault and the owner is to blame for not checking more into the fuel restrictions before running a different type of fuel, and not requesting the oil be changed after repair. I don;t see any reason why Ford should have to honor a warranty on a truck that was abused. |

Just like joining the military. It doesn't matter what the salesman says, it's what you have in writing. What does it say in the owners manual? |

I paid $525 dollars for the car. I was money ahead by that point had the thing gone to the scrapyard. I've literally owned dozens of Fords since age 14, and this was the only major problem I've ever had. In fact, this was the only time I've ever even brought one to a shop. It started with the harness cracking under the hood and shorting out. That took out the ECU and ABS/Traction control module and burned something up in the PDM. The shop wired in injector wrong during the replacement which in turn caused it to stick on and hydrolock a cylinder and bend a rod. If I bought a vehicle and grenaded the thing because I had been running the wrong fuel in the tank when the owner's manual states this much, I sure wouldn't be making a website bitching about it. |

Ford dealerships are not Ford Motor Company. They are franchises, independently owned and operated. I don't know why people fail to understand this. All he needs to do is make a few calls. His dealer sucks. doesnt work anymore...all they want to tell you is there is nothing they can do...assholes I had 2 Ford vehicles 1st one was bought used but still under factory warranty I had multiple issues with it was in the shop numerous times for the same issues, after some digging I found out that it was bought back under the lemon law, Ford retitled it in MI. to wash the "lemon" off the title and resold it under the guise "a voluntary buyback or lease buyback" in 13000 miles the transmission had to have every syncro replaced..brakes redone front was 4 times and the rears twice.... 2nd one was an explorer that had the timingchain recalled...the shop manager and mechanic said it needed a new motor that the motor was fubared, but Ford wouldn't replace it cause it was bought used...even though their recall covered used vehicles..... I wouldn't own a Ford product even if it was given to me.... |
