This one sits in a hangar in Gananoque Ontario, where I saw it in 83 while skydiving. Still there as far as I know.


The "Gananoque Ghost" spending the day outside its WW2 era BCATP hangar where it has been stored for more than 40 years. The 1943 built flying boat is taken outside once a year for a complete wash and waxing by its owner. This former RCAF 11093 Canso is in great condition although it is not currently airworthy.

Interesting aircraft.  I can see why the US military never tried something like that (overweight).  It would require a re-engineering of the plane (to account for its greater displacement).
