| My insurance company recently sent a letter that someone may have stolen some ss#'s. So I had to call the credit bereau and have them put a fraud alert on my SS#. When I got a student loan the lender had to call and verify my info because of this. I haven't bought any guns since this but I was wondering if it would cause me to get denied on the background check. |
NICS isn't associated with credit companies. |
It is, but unless they manage to get a conviction under your identity (which _does_ happen), you won't be denied. I wouldn't sweat the NICS check. I'm fortunate in that my name is unique, but I'd hate to be named "John Smith." Go get your CHL and avoid the NICS checks altogether (in a lot of states, at least.) |
