A large picture fell off the wall in the master BR this morning, and behind it there are several small holes in the wall. These range in size from pinhole to 1/8"...I cut out a piece of drywall around the largest concentration of the holes (probably 10 holes out of 20 or so) and found mud and live pupal termites. Called the guy to come over and give a quote for treatment....anything I should be aware of? |

| The contractor of our first house left form board in the ground. As it is untreated because it is supposed to be REMOVED, we ended up with termites around it and in our wall. We had to pull out the whole wall/shower area and put in new everything. Boy were we pissed. Hubby did all the work. |

Best to pull the sheet rock in that area then call for a treatment useing termidor replace any bad studs it they ate the sheetrock the studs will look like swiss cheese, treat the whole house but with the studs exposed he will be able to treat that area better and you can see how far the damage is. Ispect you crawl space for mud tunnels going up the wall. If you have seen swarmers flying termites trying to make new colonies you have a good size colony allready. Do not worry about the companies offering damage replacement they hire contractors a normal person would turn away. I had this problem 3 years ago on 2 walls I replaced 8 studs, local guy sprayed termidor the following spring I saw some in a differnt place hesprayed again free. I was going to spray again this year but wanted to wait to see if any show up so far none. I will probably spray next month and every other year to be sure, next summer the walls mention will have the paneling removed (wife said it is to dark) and put up a different kind of paneling I will inspect and gt sprayed again. Termidor works great they carry it back to they nest and kills all.
Good luck |

Truly Nolen guy just left and suggested the whole house treatment....going to pull the drywall at the affected wall and inspect the studs and headers and baseplates. Thankfully, I know my way around this type of job and can do it myself.... Thanks for the replies that confirmed what the guy was telling me. He was great and a credit to his company... The hive mind comes through again... |
