My family was giving me grief about one of my favorite breakfast foods this morning.

Toast (better w/biscuit), blackberry jelly, and a slice or two of bacon on it.  Mmmm.  Good stuff.

Another taste good together thing IMHO is chocolate cake and soup beans.   My dad taught me that one long ago.

So, first question.  Are the above gross or not?  Second question, what are your freaky food combos?

First one sounds good.

Best tasting thing I ever had was a bit strange.  Elk meatballs coated with grape jelly / chili sauce.

Need to make more than one batch for sure.  I can eat an entire one myself.

1 lb. ground elk
1/2 C. dry bread crumbs
1/3 C. minced onion
1/4 C. milk
1 egg
1 TBSP. snipped parsley
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 C. shortening
12 oz. chili sauce
10 oz. grape jelly
Instructions:
Mix ground elk, bread crumbs, onion , milk, egg, and next four ingredients; gently shape into 1-inch meatballs. Melt shortening in large skillet; brown meatballs. Remove meatballs from skillet; pour off fat. Heat chili sauce and jelly in skillet, stirring constantly, until jelly is melted. Add meatballs and stir until thoroughly coated. Simmer uncovered 30 minutes.

Smoked oysters on top of Triscuit crackers, smothered in Tabasco.  With coffee.

That was my snack of choice when I got tired of MREs in the field.

Yep! Thats tastey. But I had to substitute tea for coffee. My insides do not like coffee even though I do.

Home baked bread, sliced thin, toasted with butter or cream cheese, anchovy paste, a piece of feta cheese, topped with a olive of your choice. I get really strange looks. It also works with the Triscuit crackers.

My wife's family loves scrapple. covered in maple syrup
Here's some food math for you.
scrapple = fail

maple syrup = win

scrapple + maple syrup = fail^10

I understand why this food exists, but with readily available bacon and sausage why bother?
