I know that taking a stranger up in the air is usually not something a pilot would do.

Having said that, I just want to get up, right seat or back seat, and go flying.

I was an avionics tech, wrenched on the F-4 Phantom, and was a single engine ground simulator instructor, have some hours logged left seat.

How can I break the trust barrier, and get a free ride. Hell, I'll buy the hamburgers.

I'd say see if your local GA airport has an EAA chapter. Go to a meeting, and I bet someone would be willing to take you up. Unless you are just super weird or something. Good luck!

Go to your local small airport and take a discovery flight.

Find a local EAA(Experimental Aircraft Association) Chapter and ask about an Eagle Flight.
We do Young Eagle flights(8-18) and I've also done several Eagle Flights.
Eagle Flights are for those who might have started training but didn't finish, or those older people who'd like to get into flying now that they have more money, time, etc.
