| Has anyone had any experience w/ a free OS that works good. Have a older computer that is for my son, 6yrs old, mainly for his learning games and educational use. Need one that is user friendly and will allow internet access. Have a 30 day trial of Vista on there now but don't want to pay for something he really won't be using alot. Thanks. |

Qimo Linux is one that pops up right away.
Edubuntu is another fairly well known one. Both are based on Ubuntu Linux. |

Ubuntu Linux http://www.ubuntu.com/
One of the most user-friendly distros |

My personal preference is Fedora (which is what's installed on this laptop I'm using to surf Arfcom), but you really can't go wrong with openSUSE, Ubuntu, etc.
take a look here and find something you like: Distro-Watch (lists the most popular linux distributions people are downloading and using for home, work, play, etc) Hit up Google or the discussion/support forums if you have questions or trouble with anything. Good luck. |
