On Wednesday, my dog, Kaiser, got out of his kennel, out of his harness which was secured to a leash, secured to the kennel and had a good 10 hours of adventure in the woods. Today, my wife notices what she thinks are BBs from an open shotgun shell in the floor where the dog lays.

Nope, they're ticks. Ticks who are rapidly dying. Seems they got a good dose of Frontline once they decided to munch on Kaiser. The interesting thing is we haven't given him a treatment since last fall. He comes indoors in the winter, so we didn't see much use in giving him a treatment this year.

BTW, anyone know of a way to "harden" a Petsmart kennel?

I start my dogs on Frontline every March 1st and give the last treatment November 1st.  I once had the thought of hey the dogs are indoor dogs they don't need it.  Didn't work so well.  They ended up with fleas bigtime.  Which inturn brought the damn things in the house as well.
