So I'm at the range the other day, and shooting my M1A loaded at 200yds(max distance here)... It being deer season has all the FUDDS out checking zero's on their muzzle loaders, No biggie, right?  So I'm shooting slow fire, with a ten round mag, and the fudd next to me looks at me, and asks if I can "knock that shit off".... I'm a little confused, and he informs me that he doesn't need a .mil wanna-be blasting round after round off next to him. (I'm active duty MP)

Being a big boy, I didn't say a word. Cease fire comes, and I change targets. I wasn't really paying attention, but when they sent the line hot again, seems old Fudd was so butt-hurt I was next to him, he put a target up in MY FUCKING LANE. Completely blocked my target at 200 yds. So, me being a jerk off at this point, shot it up good.

Fucking Fudds in NJ are so high and mighty. I asked a local dealer for a PTR-91. His response: Those are illegal, so no. Good job asshole, if your reading this, Butch's just made 1100 bucks off of me. Go get herpes from your muzzle loader.

I purposely bring out the evil stuff when I suspect that there might be fudds up at the range. Bumpfiring my RPK makes them real nervous.

Just another shining example of the point I have been trying to make here for a week... We are programmed to be nice and bite our tongues, not to say anything offensive or mean, not to be vocal and obnoxious, not to verbally burn someone to the fucking ground and piss on their ashes...

The left is not..   see who has been getting their way lately?

Your revenge is showering them with hot brass.

If that Fudd became apoplectic from a M1A, then imagine his head exploding when you line up to his left with your AK.

Yesterday I'm with the wife's family for dinner and they are all big time into hunting.  I told her uncle about the .45 I shot at the S&W factory and that I was going to buy one.  He says "Why would you want one of those, can you hunt with it?"   They're all UAW Dem. voters too

Eh the idiots who show up at the range with either no hearing protection or half assed protection and then do nothing but bitch about how loud whatever your shooting is,  are much worse.

[PC]I would have pointed out that I was active duty and currently protecting the rights of asshats like him to mistakenly claim the 2A is about hunting guns, and thanked him for the consideration he was showing a memebr of our armed forces.[/PC]

[FOAD]Then I would have loaded up the highest capacity mag I had and put blisters on my trigger finger just mad minuting rounds into his intentionally misplaced target, turned to him and said something like "just like Basra - be glad Bambi doesn't shoot back", packed my stuff and gone for a beer [/FOAD]

Since I pay for day shooting at the local range, I tend to get approached/dirty looks by/from "members."  It's pretty freaking annoying.  And for $15, it just isn't worth it most of the time.  Now that gas is $1.78, I am FINALLY going to Osceola after finals.  I cannot wait.  I just cannot wait!

I was unpacking my AK at the range a few weeks ago, next to a guy who was sighting in a BP rifle.  No harsh words or glares ensued, the guy was very friendly.

I've seen the type at other times, though.

I'd like to think that with the runup in EBR sales lately, ranges will be more understanding of our needs.

I don't get a problem from them here. even when I used to still go the fudd range,

The gangstas playing with their loaded Glock fohtays on the rifle firing line are the ones that really irritate me.

Firearms deer season opens here tomorrow, last weekend I was at the local state run range and expected it to be wall to wall bolt guns, shotguns, etc. What I found was 5 out of the 6 of us there shooting ARs. The other guy scope-eyed himself with his shotgun and didn't last long.

The dangers aside, why not offer to let them try it out?  You might just convert a Fudd.

This is why I bring my M44 and my 14.5" AR with a perm Mini-Y Comp to the range during fudd season.

I'm a deer hunter myself, but I find it possible to sight in AND ACTUALLY USE my deer "rifles" (plural, as in all my center fire rifles, many not just one rem-chester) all year long. When these real-deal fudds like the one the OP mentioned, yeah, I usually give it right back to them and not bite my tongue.
I also like to punctuate my point by getting out my M4 with the mini-y comp and touch off some 5.56 spec'd ammo to reinforce my reply. Ditto the M44 with Bulgarian Yellow tip Heavy Ball ammo. The muzzle blast and fireballs are impressive.

They usually "bow down before the one you they serve. Your They're going to get what you they deserve"

I usually do a mag dump or two about the time a dick says something to me..
With the Primary Weapons Systems Compensators on all my rifles, the Muzzle Blast concussion definitely gets the non-verbal "FUCK YOU" across to em..

I'm already anticipating some Fudd flack when I bring out my 14.5" Pre-ban M4-gery sometime soon to the NY range... I can already hear them now... "Oh my, that looks illegal!"

This is why I love my AK (SAR1), it throws brass 10-15 feet over almost perfectly sideways.  Fudd starts to set up, up it comes, brass flies, and Fudd moves elsewhere.

Also helps to setup on the left most station on that range.

Me personally I could give a fuck if a shell or two brushes me, I've never had someone shower me though.  I can generally get my point across to Elmer that I do not want his opinion of what I own with a look though.

This is the outcome I'm hopeing for too.

I just hope that it doesn't go the other way, and you aren't allowed to bring your EBR to the range anymore.

Just do what I do, Pack up the 308 and bring out a 50 bmg. They just go away since the blast is just huge.  Works Everytime.

I don't know why but this never happens to me. Every range I've ever been at has atleast a Fudd or ten and before season there packed. I only own "evil" rifles too, the M1A being my favorite.

I'm told it's because I'm 6'4" and 250lbs of muscle, shave my head and walk around most of the time with a "what the fuck are you looking at" look on my face.

I'm sorry, I can't help it, the world made me this way has been my response.

There's always someone who says "F&$% you! I hunt and own an AR and...", not realizing that they've taken offense to something that doesn't apply to them.

Hopefully we've discouraged that

I've never had a Fudd encounter as of yet.  The range I shoot at has quite a few hunters
but it seems that ALL of them have at least one EBR.

If I did have such a problem, well, my Mark 12 Mod 1 looks sufficiently evil for just about
anybody, I guess...and it's a freaking needle driver. Not a tack driver, mind you, a NEEDLE
driver.  I dare say that I could get better on-target accuracy in a mag dump than most
bolt-action Fudds can achieve in slow fire.    And my reaction to them sassing me would
likely BE an aimed-fire mag dump.   Eat hot brass, asshole!

But really, that wouldn't be necessary.  The range has strict rules against anyone harassing
another shooter.    The things that can get you thrown out include that,  handling weapons
outside of when and where you're allowed to per the rangemasters, shooting other people's
targets intentionally and without permission,  damaging range equipment,  and slinging
hot brass at other people intentionally or failing to make an effort to keep it from
happening if requested to do so.

I think that I may go shooting this Saturday, actually.  I'm getting that itch.

Went to the range today, five 'Fudds' were out sighting in their muzzleloaders and shottys.  I took my Hi-point carbine, was the only non-'Fudd' shooter.  While the range was cold I had two of these shooters come up to me and ask about my carbine.

Both showed genuine interest in the 'black rifle' and said they heard good things about it.  I asked one of them if they wanted to try it out but he declined, was already packing up and on the way out.

At the end as I was leaving one of the shooters started firing while the range was cold and someone was still downrange.

Other than that incident everything was safe and pleasant.

Those were hunters. They only qualify as Fudds if:
  • they start making unsolicited disparaging comments about your weapon of choice,

  • question your reasoning or manhood for owning or shooting an EBR

  • insist that only hunting guns are covered by the 2A

  • or openly suggest that your weapon is only suitable for criminal activity, either due to magazine capacity, method of operation or features.

When I lived in Kali-fornia and shot at West End Gun Club I never had a problem with others in this regard because I would take a block of wood that my neighbor took a router to and I had affixed a window screen in the groove. This became my brass catcher. It was tall enough that from the bench the fired brass got dropped in a nice little area. When I shot offhand I stood it on top of the bench and again didn't have to search for my brass and no one had to dodge it either. On days when the range was busy I had people tell me they appreciated my consideration for not raining hot brass upon them. Little did they know I'm just a lazy bastage and don't care to chase brass around under the benches.
Now I shoot out on open land and still use the screen when the wind isn't blowing.
