| I went to Vegas with my wife to visit with her parents. While I was there my Father in Law took me to the Gun Store and rented me a MP5. It was the coolest! And I thought I didnt want a full auto. Definately the smoothest firing gun I have used. |

Well, I think you can still get some other full auto "bargins!" for your price range. I believe Vektor sells their FA Uzis for around 3K. The FA Uzi I shot was also a fine shooter, and I thought more controllable in FA fire than the MP5. Of course, it had a full wood stock and was heavier. Uzi mags are also a hell of a lot cheaper than 9mm HK mags. If NY were to miraculously go Class 3, I would consider ringing up Vektor... |

Yep, the Vectors are nice. That is what I'm getting myself for Christmas. The price ranges from around $2700-3200 for a NIB UZI and that price is sure to double within a couple of years after Vector runs out. There are quite a few buzz guns you can get in the $3K range, its just that an MP5 isn't one of them. |

For anyone in South Florida, the Delray Shooting Center will rent you a full auto MP5 and all the 9mm you care to buy. Incredibly smooth firing weapon. I fell in love with it, the same sort of love that I have for a 2002 911 Turbo.....probably will never own either. However, I have been thinking about getting dressed up like I mean business and going in to a Porsche dealer for a test drive. Hope the salesman is wearing a pair of Depends for that ride! |

Add about $1.5-2.0K to your 3K and get an M16 RR or DIAS for your AR15. An 9MM SMG will be just one of your many options. 9MM conversion goes from $600 to $1,200 depending if you want Colt or not and suppressed or not. Mine shoots a smoothly as an MP5, plus you will be familiar with the platform. Lots of modifications to make the M16/9 close to the MP5. Also, you get to know your gun. MP5 is the top dog, but expensive, not near as versatile as the M16, and very mysterious to work on. A post over on subguns made an interesting point: "Instead of spending $8,000 of a top-line subgun, spend $4,000 on the gun, $2,000 on ammo, and $2,000 on tactical lessons. You'll be alot better off." Could have a point. Just my $.02. |

The guts look like something that you should find in a swiss watch. Yea, if your MP5 does break, the guys that fix them are so backed-up that you may not get it back on-line for months. With the M16/9. Trouble-shoot, order parts, and replace. All kinds of people to ask questions of, both here, subguns.com, and others. |
