Besides explodeing targets what some of your favorite cheap fun targets to shoot at?
candy old toy's cheap glass ware Come on everyone has a cheap fun target they like. |
| Plastic soda bottles filled with water (no cap needed). Hit with something of reasonable power they make a nice big boom, can't set anything on fire like exploding targets are super cheap and because the plastic is stretchy the bottle mostly stays in one piece making for easy cleanup. The plastic is still 100% recyclable as well. |

Crackers, Neco Wafers, etc. If you're up for a challenge - aspirin tablets. Lot's of free "print your own" targets on the web.... http://www.targetz.com/fun01.htm |

I go to the local Harris Teeter or Lowes grocery store and find the about to spoil produce bin. They usually have potatoes or apples for a buck a bag. A .223 round hitting a potato is freaking awesome. It explodes ridiculously. Fortunately my buddy has a plasma cutter and has a ton of steel targets in varying sizes and we can shoot on private land up to 300 yards.
Potatoes are the best though. damn taters! |

buy a 20 pound bag of potatos and a can of red spray paint so you can spot em. They blow up pretty well and are cheap as hell I think this is a great idea. I thought that I had used everything as a target...spray painted potatoes sound like an excellent, inexpensive idea. |

Be sure and clean up after yourself. |

Watermelon explode better than pumpkins.
Potatoes shatter nicely with even a 22LR. I've done food-service size cans of corn, baked beans, mayonnaise, etc. They are all pretty fun if you have enough gun. People always love keeping the penny, nickel, quarter with a nice clean bullet hole through it. (My wife has been carrying one on a key ring since before we met) |

Buy a bunch of cheap plastic cups, fill them with water, freeze. They explode when hit, very very cheap, clean up is a non-issue. My kiddo LOVES blowing up ice blocks. If you're shooting something accurate, shoot at paint-balls...same thing. Cheap and reactive, cleanup is easy. |

We used to do that then moved on to lifesavers trying not to break them by shooting through the middle. That's what I'd say when I missed them too. Quoted:
Generic brand diet soda. You can usually get a 12 pack for under $2. They blow up nicely when hit, and the cans are sometimes still shootable after they explode. My answer. |

We fill 2 liter coke bottles with water and add food color of whatever color is handy. Freeze overnight in the chest freezer. Take to range in a few large coolers. Cut away the plastic bottle with knife and leave the ice block as the target. A nice purple or blue ice block when hit is pretty spectacular when hit.
We set them up at the 200 yd berm and shoot at them with our iron sighted mil surps. Shooting at crackers with .22s. |
