This is pretty open ended. I want another gun. Just cuz. I'm a fan of variety so I'm not interested in something that's just a different flavor of what I already have. Current inventory:
Handguns 2 wilson combat 1911's in 45, one CQBE and one Supergrade 1 wilson combat spec ops 9 1 Daly (RIA) 1911 in 45 1 S&W airweight in 38spc 1 M9 1 Glock 34 1 Glock 20 incoming Long guns 1 very old, very used Mossber 590 w/ 2 barrels (18.5" and 26" i think) w/ stock and pistol grip 1 barely fired but slightly rusty remington .22lr bolt action 1 CMMG AR in 5.56 w/ 18" barrel 1 Barrett MRAD in .338 1 LaRue tOBR 20" in 7.62 on order (ordered 2/10/13 so it will be a while) 1 RRA AR in 458SOCOM So a couple of things are conspicuously absent to me. A nice 20 gauge O/U and a bolt action rifle in a medium game hunting caliber. I really dont think I have any desire to buy another handgun right now. So, GD, what would you buy if you were me? Let's say the budget for a long gun is 4k including glass if applicable. Let's hear your ideas and reasoning. I'll create a poll from a short list of ideas that interest me and the first person to have proposed what I buy will get a 30rd pmag. What say you, oh great hive? |
| Sauer 202 in 30-06 with a Swarovski Z5 3.5x18 with the BDH reticle. One of the slickest conventional bolt rifles around with a detachable magazine and caliber change capability and an incredible optic to go with it. If you buy good rings it's going to push your budget pretty hard. I have the same rifle with an older Swarovski 2.5x12. It's my go to hunting rig. |

http://www.chiappafirearms.com/product/2599 Saw one of these at he fun store today. 150$ old. I think I want one. I have a spare vfg I could use for a pistol grip on it. Cheek weld is surprisingly good so is lop and I am six foot even.

If this was a "make OP laugh first" thread, you'd win. |

Cheek weld is surprisingly good so is lop and I am six foot even. That looks very interesting. I might get one of those eventually- looks like a pretty well executed survival type rifle. I like the new double badger as well. Looks like it would be a really awesome AOW host, or even as-is, a much nicer combo gun than the new Savage offerinig. My only concern is that I hope the build quality is better than my 1911-22. |

I'm kind of in the same position.. I just want something but nothing in particular.
I'm leaning toward a lever gun. Not sure if rimfire or a .357 or .44. They look fun. Or another black powder gun. Since I have just about everything I need in modern guns, I'm thinking something more oddball or just plain fun would be nice. No worrying about zombie apocacolypses or self defense skenarios or magazine sizes. Just something to dick around with. ETA: but my budget's nowhere near 4k

Remington 700, nice glass, ammo. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I was seriously contemplating a sendero in 300winmag when I bought the MRAD. I had a stainless/synthetic 700 in .273 that I sold to buy an engagement ring. I miss it a bit. It was sweet to shoot. |

Remington 700 in 7mm-08. It's a good caliber, different than your other rifles, and a good base to build what you want on. Add in a nice optic of your choice and you'd be set. Another really good choice is 260 Remington. That's a sweet caliber also, recoil is mild and it shoots flat.
ETA: 308 brass works for both, and bullets are easy to find. The 260 has a lot of nice options. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
