TLDW: EK water blocks goes down in flames.
How 4 People Destroyed a $250 Million Tech Company |

An hour and 15 minute long video?
I don’t even know who these guys are, or why I should care, let alone have the attention span for something like this. I’m going back to the fat guy on an airplane thread. |

Gross, Slav blocks
I buy Watercool and Alphacool exclusively. Though I like my EK Quantum Delta Tec EVO because the idea of consuming 200 watts to cool 300 watts is appealing. |

Quoted: There's a TLDW. View Quote Google's Gemini summarizes the video. This is what it says. The video is about a company called EKWB, a major manufacturer of water cooling components for computers. The company appears to be on the brink of bankruptcy despite its past success. The video investigates how this situation came about and blames four people at the company for its downfall. The video outlines the following issues: EKWB has not been paying its employees or suppliers. The company recently had its bank accounts restricted. Founder and CEO Edward Kunig is accused of making a series of bad decisions and appointments. Marco Mitrovich, who is described as the director of the EK Serbia Branch but also called the co-CEO by some employees, is accused of draining large amounts of money from the company through invoices. Cat Silverstein, the CEO of EK Americas, is accused of spending company money on unnecessary networking events. Maage Kirch, a self-proclaimed business guru and angel investor who owns 15% of EKWB, is accused of being an ineffective leader who contributed to the company's original growth but has not been helpful in recent years. The video suggests that these four people made a series of decisions that led to the company's financial troubles. |

Sidenote from the video, JayzTwoCents was finally paid by EK for a 6 figure ad deal that Jay had made a video about prior. |

I'm about half way through the vid and have been waiting for a thread to pop up here.
Gamer's Nexus has been doing some great work and have really come a long way over the years. Absolutely crazy what happened to EKWB. |

I watch his videos (well, most of them) and knew he'd had some trouble with that company. |

Ever since Tech Jesus got more into the drama and tabloid stuff, he got more subscribers especially when he bent over Linus that annoying ass Canadian, but his videos are still too long winded.

EK used to make THE premium and go to water cooling components for enthusiasts. I have one if their cylinder reservoirs still that looks like a transparent CIWS.

View Quote Too be fair YT is becoming more of an alternative to actual TV so long form videos is where it's at for content creators. If you want short videos you have to use TikTok, YT shorts, X, etc. |

Watched it.
I don't do watercooling anymore but all the guys sounded like Serbian\Bosnian gangsters. Then you see they paid their friends for consulting and shady land deals, yeah, pretty much how you destroy a good company. |

Well this sucks. I’ve built a few computers with a bunch of EK blocks.

Ehhh, gotta be the union at fault wanting too much money.
Upper management at fault? Am I still on ARFcom? |

He does good work and explains stuff well. But it's definitely not for the ADHD crowd. He's my go to for tech news and reviews even if he does make videos that are on the longer side. EK can go F themselves. Not only were they screwing their own employees but other people around the industry they had contracts with. They had a huge sales boon during covid (doubling their revenue in a single year) yet let their own employees go months without pay. One of the guys in the video almost lost his house because he wasn't getting paid. They deserve to go out of business and I hope they do. |

So fucking true. GN were absolute savages when it came to ASUS and its ridiculous CS shenanigans. Nerd Jesus has long-winded but hugely informative content. His stuff helped me select components for my current rig. Just hoping I don’t have an Intel CPU with oxidation issues. If I do, I think coverage of the issue and pressure from GN is going to get Intel to make it right. |

Water-cooler is a simple concept that shouldn't be hard to sustain.
But once you create a corporate culture, the product and customers always seem to take a backseat. Especially when there is money to be embezzled from the coffers. |

Had no idea that EK had no CNC or other types of production equipment to make their own designs.
I knew they contracted to outside manufacturers but having no production of their core products is hilariously shortsighted. Had some good times and free dinner/drinks provided by EK over a decade ago. Sad to see them fall so far. |

I played the video and then did a MSFS run and played the audio in the background TLDR EKWB is fucked |

OP and most of the people posting in this thread are either part of the industry or closely follow it. Edit- OP also created this thread ~2hours after the video was available... more than enough time to watch it. |

Absolutely no fear in taking it to all those companies that most other reviewers are afraid of being blacklisted by and in doing so he's made himself and GN so much of a juggernaut they all have to acknowledge him and his criticisms. It's really something to watch. On a side note, I like how he's kept up with the top talent from the now semi-defunct EVGA too. |

It's really something to watch. On a side note, I like how he's kept up with the top talent from the now semi-defunct EVGA too. Dude is awesome and obviously isn't looking to enrich himself even if I hope he makes money as an aside. Linus on the other hand has basically tried to straddle the fence and not piss off anyone while being tech entertainment which is a completely different market segment at this point. LTT is so far behind Steve with reviews and testing its hilarious that Linus poured millions into 'Labs' and doesn't have anything to show for it. Now he's already expanded out to another super expensive facility for badminton and LAN parties. The Steve video on LTT still burns Linus and he's trying to throw money at being 'better' than Steve at this point which is hilarious. Linus is worth 10's of millions and despite them trying to act like Luke is some cheapskate that dude has earned millions being one of the first LTT employees. He may not spend his money and may be a cheapskate in real life but he's made piles of money. |

PC culture was a lot more fun before all the monied bro crowd showed up to clout-buy the latest thing being pumped on social media.
I had to have some of my first water blocks custom machined locally, and all my LN2 towers were custom made. |

Jay View Quote Open loops cost wise, just dont make any sense. BUT, open loop water cooling in general, is on the enthusiast side of PC building. Where cost isn't paid to much attention too. Ill stick to my Arctic Freezer AIOs in my two systems. |
