I remember my dad bitching about gas getting close to $2/gal 10 years ago, 5 years before that and I remember him bitching about it getting close to $1/gal

Right now it's pushing over $4 average around here and when summer comes around it'll get even worse, some places are already over $5

We can still find gas for around $3.26 or even a little less but I'm betting we'll see $4.xx by the end of summer.

Engines pumping and thumping in time.

Churning and burning, they yearn for the cup.

They deftly maneuver and muscle for rank,
Fuel burning fast on an empty tank,
Reckless and wild they pour through the turns...

Fed’s Yellen: Full steam ahead on QE3
Yellen’s comments add weight to the idea the Fed will maintain an $85 billion-a-month bond purchase program at its next meeting on March 19-20.

I can't think of any other reason for gas to be as expensive as it is at this point in time.  Plenty of cheap US sourced crude available.

Might be higher due to exports of refined product.  Gulf coast refineries have been shipping more and more gas/distillate to Latin America and the Caribbean since US-Canadian  sourced feedstock can be almost $20 a barrel cheaper than crude on the world market. That, along with cheap natural gas for firing the refineries gives them a competitive edge.

That would tend to keep the supply of gas/distillate lower (and the prices higher) in the US.

A long time ago I cringed when it cost $20 to fill up. Now when it's running me near $100 per tank, .

I spent $20. to fill up a motorcycle the other day.  I have seen the day when it would be less than $1. to do the same.

The fed printing all that extra money devalues the dollar.  I think it's being done to keep interest rates
low because of that 16 trillion the US has to pay interest on.
