I'm not sure which flags you're talking about, but the stars always lead forward, toward the fight. There's a couple gun mistakes that only us gun guys would ever pick up on. Olympic FIRSH handguards on ARs, wrong accessories, etc. Nothing to get panties wadded over. |

Only thing I noticed was towards the beginning of the first episode it shows a lot of the rifles with ACOG's which is fine but when it shows the view through one of them it just shows a red dot. Now if they have the sights there on set and they go through the trouble of showing us a view through one of them how hard would it have been to get it right and show the chevron? But like the previous poster said..."nothing to get panties wadded over". |

Yeah, that headshot was depicted beautifully! Then the gut shot right afterwards was nice too. The film makers are definietly not apprehensive about showing carnage... I'm digging this series! (I started re-reading the book, hope to be done by then end of the week).  |
The long periods of boredom, reassignments and the "hurry up and wait" BS add to the experience. It's kind of humorous that these guys had trained to be at the tip of it all, then find them selves in the rear. |
Sort of, in the book the captain takes a captured East German AK and hoses a Iraqi wearing a suit as they drive by. He is referred to as Captain America and supposedly a real asshole that had no business being in marine recon. |

No but Generation Kill see very little good in our Marines/Soldiers. If you think you are seeing a positive or even balanced portrait in Generation Kill you are mistaken. Generation Kill accentuates the imperfections and ignores any positives. It is a hack job, a well made one but still a hack job. The fact that even here we are so programmed now as to accept this treatment of the subject without question or even seeing what has been done is sad. |
If they focus on the characters as reported by the original embed reporter, then I don't have a problem with it so long as it's pretty accurate. I don't need to be spoon fed "balance" to enjoy a show.

I keep LOLing at 'Captain America'. The part when he's running around shooting up the airfield with a bayonet on his primary weapon and and a folding stocked AK was priceless.  For the people who's read the book, so far is the show pretty accurate? |
