Published Friday June 18, 2010 Give blood, get pie COUNCIL BLUFFS — This Father's Day weekend, Council Bluffs residents can honor their fathers by giving the gift of life. For their donation of blood Saturday, donors will get a free fruit pie from the Red Cross and the Council Bluffs Village Inn restaurants. Blood drives will be held Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon at both Council Bluffs Village Inns, 2935 West Broadway and 1906 Rue St. “Donating blood is one of the simplest things you can do to help save a patient's life,” said Tricia Rubens, CEO of the local Red Cross Blood Services region.
