| The problem isn't that he didn't offer as much, the problem is the neighbors once they move in will bitch and moan that they live next to a slaughter house and stinky pigs and will want the county to shut him down. Same as the numbnut motherfuckers that move in under and airport flight path and bitch about the noise. |

Sounds liek the stupid bastard from Philadelphia moves up to Mansfield ,Pennsylvnaia and builds right next to the Sportsmans club shooting ranges, now this club also rents it reanges to the local university that has a Police academy for their firearms training.
Then the Philadelphia dumbasses have the nerve to sue the Sportsman's club to close their ranges!! That one lasted about 5 minutes... Judge: "You were aware the range was there when you built and moved here?" Them: "Well....... Yes......" Judge: "Case dismissed, better luck choosing your next location for a home." |

I doubt there is a "real" pig farm / slaughterhouse on that farmer's property. He just put the sign up to make people think that so they wouldn't buy homes in the new development. |

Years ago, my neighbor, who is just about the baddest mother fucker ever (he's a real life no shit lumberjack, uses fucking horses, not a skidder like a pussy) wanted to put a lumber mill on his property. his neighbor (who used to live in my house) raised holy hell with the town. Said BAMFN (bad ass mother fucking neighbor) stood up at the town hall where the fate of his lumber mill was being decided and said to the moron neighbor "if you assholes won't let me have my lumber mill, I'm putting in a FUCKING pig farm instead. I know for a fucking FACT i'm zoned for that!" Moron neighbor meekly withdrew his complaints |

That's pretty much it. Matter of fact the pigs didn't show up until a month or two ago; signs been up for a while longer. |

If its the shooting club I'm thinking of, the developer had even bought the land for the houses from the shooting club, and then encouraged the residents to sue. Sounds liek the stupid bastard from Philadelphia moves up to Mansfield ,Pennsylvnaia and builds right next to the Sportsmans club shooting ranges, now this club also rents it reanges to the local university that has a Police academy for their firearms training. Happens all the time. Urban dweller moves out to the country next to a farm. After a period of time former urban dweller decides farmer must change
his farming practices ,too much noise, dust, animal odors, etc., all the while using the farmers land as a personal play ground. End of rant. As far as OP , very seldom can a farmer out bid a developer for land. The price at which a developer can buy land and turn a profit is often 3-5 times more than a farmer can financially justify. |

My favorite is when some urban lawyer fag moves out into the country to play Jolly Rancher and is horrified when his neighbors shoot pesky varmits that harm their property. |

When I lived in IN there was a guy down in Bartholomew county that had a piece of property he wanted to open a convenience store on. Since it was zoned for farm use, they had to have a hearing about changing the zoning. At the hearing, all his city people neighbors bitched it would lower their property values. So the property in question remained zoned for farm use. This guy then decides to grow hay on the property. He uses chicken manure to fertilize with. They said the smell was so bad, you couldn't go outside some days.
This is how you exact revenge country style. |

There are too many damned houses on the market right now anyway, so these developers want to go build more? Smart.... There is no way that a farmer can be competitive with a developer on purchasing power. 3 or 4 houses will pay for most of the developer's land costs. My livlihood, in part at least, has been doing civil infrastructure planning for developers. I usually do commercial or municipal planning, but we do occasionally get private developers. Helping out private residential developers is my least favorite thing to do. |

Best thing about gueniees is they are loud and like to nest in trees over your cars.
I had a friend who also put up a hog farm billboard. Rancheettes are bad neighbors. Bet 10-1 that it is a beef operations with a few pigs (probably daughters show pigs) in the very front for effect. ––––- for what it's worth, his neighbor intentionally fucked him - that was the first revenge. I have had it happen to me. Went to buy neighbors property and they wanted a rediculious price. Told them what I thought it was worth and they felt insulted. They ended up selling it to the developer for less - but it would have been a cold day in hell before they would have ate their pride after acting like jackasses to me. That was their way of getting revenge. Same thing happened to me on the other side as well - but that developer is sitting on the property yet. Either would have given me a nice round square mile of land. Oh well. |

Do you really think they give a damn about the current state of the economy, or whether the houses they build will be next to a shooting range, or that building in a farm area might affect relations down the line between residents and farmers? Fuck no. All they want to see is a profit and move on to the next development |

The city zoning commissions and city councils were looking at potential tax revenue, and bought into the housing bubble. If they had a little foresight, they'd impose a plat restriction and develop conservatively. |

I've seen guineas chase off dogs, cats, coyotes, and I don't know many people that want to spend more than about 3 seconds within about 50 feet of them. |

Won't work in Michigan: Disclaimer on deeds: "This property may be located within the vicinity of farmland or a farm operation.Generally accepted agricultural and management practices which may generate noise, dust, odors, and other associated conditions may be used and are protected by theMichigan Right to Farm Act." |

Childish on the pig farmers part. ![]() Not really, he sees the writing on the wall. The homes go in............. then The complaints of smell start.... Followed by the flies.... Followed by the noise..... Pretty soon, he is sued in court. Forced to sell his property, at a reduced rate........ Don't think it can't happen ? Think again, it happens all the time. |
