I got delayed today for a transfer for the third time in 2 years (fifth time overall) But my question is, how many of you guys have your FBI UPIN? Does it really make that much of a difference? How much does it cost? How big of a pain in the ass is it to get/ keep? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks guys |

I have one, mine was easy because ID theft (some felon was using my info to buy guns and get arrested). For the rest of you, get the VAF form and fill it out and send it in to the FBI along with fingerprints. No cost (your PD might charge a fee to fingerprint you), no maintenance of any kind on your part. They take 8 weeks to process it and send you a nice letter giving you a UPIN. I have yet to be delayed or denied since I got mine in 2007. ETA: if you google "FBI VAF" the second link is a .pdf of the application. Print it off, fill it out, sign it, get a fingerprint card done from the local PD or other fingerprint place and mail it in. Pretty easy. |
