It seems that some folks are getting a little spun up about a possible AWB being passed into Federal law in 2009. It further seems that folks are "getting ready" by making purchases of guns. ammo, and accessories "while they still can." Why are they/you doing that? For what are they/you "getting ready?" |

+1 They are not looking this time to restrict your firearms. |
How do you loose sleep? Is it flapping around somewhere like a loose door hinge? |

My plan is to buy at least one stripped lower from Anvil Arms every time they're at a gunshow that's local to me, until I think I have "enough" of them, which is a number that I'm not able to define but I'll know when I get to it. And they'll all assume "assault rifle" configuration, with photographic, date-stamped documentation, before any such ban, if there ever is one, takes effect. CJ |

The bottom line is, no matter how well things have been going (Heller, CCW, etc.), Clinton and Obama are a threat to the RKBA. They both have extreme anti-gun stances, and have voted that way to prove it. Look at Clinton's voting record on the Vitter bill (Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act of 2006). This is proof to me she is a freakin' nut case capable and intent on doing anything to remove our RKBA. Call me crazy, I just don't like paying $120 for used Glock mags. And if it's an all-out ban, then those mags will be needed anyway. Either way you look at it, it's good to have extra gear before an election where 2 pyscopath gun-grabbers are front running. |
People are moving on purchases as evidenced by the back-order situation at all the good companies. 5sub |

Im suprised by these threads (not this one so much) where so many posters here are taking a "not too worried" type approach to a possible AWB. The signals are mixed, we have a dem majority, but a decent amount of those dems are not nessesarily anti-gun. we have Heller, ect... Its impossible to predict what exactally will happen, but i am comfortable with this prediction: one way or another, things will only get worse. I am going to barrel up, and if i end up being wrong, then i will just have to find a way to deal with having more guns and ammo.... much better than the other way around... |
No, because if it ever happens, you may not be able to sell it, let alone possess it. The devil will be in the details (again, if it occurs). The motivation to buy now, if you don't already have one, is.... to have one. |
They can't control themselves. It's like a moth to a flame. |
Yep. They don't learn from the past on this subject nor any other. Anyone who thinks they won't try is kidding themselves. |

I almost have more than I can fit in my gun safe. If/when the BATFU lets Cavalry Arms make my new Mk II lower, I will have my weapons completely built up. The best way for anyone to be ready (and you're getting ready to not be able to buy any more "assault weapons" and have them quadruple in price, by the way) right now is to get in on the "help Cav Arms" project while you can: ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=680406 Mk II lowers rock, and they are going to help Cav Arms stay afloat until the BATFU finally has to call off the campaign and give them their stuff back. |
His facial expression in that pic reminds me of Private Pyle in his last scene. |

Geez, I think we have the wrong attitude here. Stinkin' thinkin'. How about getting your non-shooting friends to the range? Several times! They'll get the bug and buy an EBR, too. How do you think you got involved? How about buying a membership to the NRA or GOA? How about supporting RKBA candidates and incumbent politicians? How about getting involved with youth shooting days at your local range (or help start one)? Maybe even get involved with teaching firearms safety classes at your local schools, cub scout packs, etc? The more people we get to understand our sport and get involved, the more EBRs we get into hands that have never touched one, the more people we get to understand the importance of the Second Amendment, the better chance we have of staving off the gun grabbers as the chip away at our gun rights one small piece at a time. |
