Two questions for the LEO's. What do you usually do when someone use's the bathroom excuse? and can you use laser at night? A couple friends and I were talking the other night, while playing cards and these topics came into discussion. Looking for some feedback. Thanks!

Depends.

How fast were they going over the limit?

How close are bathrooms?

I've had someone tell me she was speeding to get home because she had a phobia about public bathrooms, so she wouldn't use the work bathroom. The speed was high enough for a ticket.

I had someone swear he had diarrhea, but who didn't look fidgety, sweaty, uncomfortable or anxious, which is how I remember feeling when I have had diarrhea. He also wanted to take the time to argue (at first he was apologetic for the speed, then he "didn't want to sign a ticket for something I didn't do" and was willing to ride to the magistrate). I have his court date this morning.

It has to be believeable to work.

And yes, you can use the LIDAR at night.

Well I did get out of a ticket....  For 90 in a 30, because It was late and I had to go #2 realllyyyy bad.... But, I wouldn't believe that would usually get you out of a ticket, but I'm sure he could tell I had to go. Bathrooms were nowhere close I was in an industrial area. Only about 2 miles from home.

I've only had one lady use that excuse. She was not within my normal ticket writing range, she was however in my stop and have a chat range.

Their excuse has to be believeable to work, if they have passed ten other spots to stop and use the restroom, I would look at there lack of common sense and give them a ticket..

Lazer works fine at night.

If you havent had a 'code brown' you havent been a cop long enough

The bathroom excuse only works when there is a look of desperation in the eyes.

A lot of cops, my self included, wouldn't be cops if thet wern't given break at some point.  Even if you just give a verbal warning tons of cars drive by and see a police officer being proactive and slow down.  A quick check of there history will let you know if they are truely full of shit

Stopped a lady one night after seeing her drive by a couple of times on the main drag and ~10 mph over the posted speed limit.  As soon as I got to the window I knew something was "wrong".  I asked if there was an emergency and the first words out of her mouth were "Do you know where an all night pharmacy is" - I've been married long enough to know that that question combined with the baggy sweats, no make-up and the pained look on her face meant Aunt Flow was in town and I wanted nothing to do with delaying the poor woman.  I gave her directions and asked her to slow it down a touch.

I usually tell them "your a big girl/boy now.....hold it."   Ofcourse If I can tell that they are in agony then I will hold their drivers license and follow them to the next gas station.

Yes we can laser at night.  Infact i prefer to laser at night.

I was gearing up to tell a similar story that happened to my lieutenant one night. He said he took a step back and told her to take off.
