Was going through several OLD threads today, several years old, and just could not believe the price of ammo as recently as 2006. Prices have more than doubled in 5 years. Makes me very upset, wishing that I would have gotten into this hobby alot sooner.

My questions is, whats everyones take on the future of ammo prices. Do you EVER see it going down? Do you see it continuing to rise? Or do you see it staying pretty steady for a while?

Depends if the Muslim is still in the White House in 2012.

Depends on numerous factors. Copper as increased in price for years as developing countries like China and India use more and more copper for growing infrastructure. Since our military has been at war for a decade, a lot of copper, primers, and gun powder has been used by military using a lot of supply. As we pull out of Iraq and then Afghanistan things might stabilize somewhat. I'm sure there are other reasons.

I'd really like to get a bunch of people together and try to get the stupid law Clinton put into place about the .mil not being able to sell surplus ammo to civilians thrown out.

It wouldn't be the solution to all of our problems but it would definitely give us another source of decent quality mil-surplus ammo and I'd feel a lot better about it going back to the people whose tax money paid for it than it being destroyed or given to NATO or something.

I think high ammo prices are here to stay.    The weakening dollar, continued demand for metals by China and India, and the fact that ammo companies know that people will still buy what's available even at the higher prices ensure expensive ammo from now on.  Unless, of course, the economy totally collapses.  But people wouldn't be able to buy anything then anyway.

The answer is:  No one knows.  It will depend on supply and demand like it always does.

But I'd put away a SHTF stash if you already haven't done so.

Best advice I've read all day.

The price of oil will only continue to rise and so will everything else.
