Yes, Im cross postin this from the technical forums because I need an answer within a few hours. I'm looking at a used glock 26, I need to know how many rounds it typically takes to show considerable finish wear on the guide rod. I also need to know what kind of wear on the frame/slide or anywhere else I need to look for. I've got a G17 with about 1300 rounds through it, and it barely has wear anywhere, so that doesn't really help my cause all that much. TY in advance |

Since nobody seems to be helping you out, I'll try, but I need to preface this with the fact that I do not own a Glock. 1. I have seen plenty of guns with finish wear on internal parts NIB from factory proofing, etc. 2. Glock has a reputation for longevity. 3. If you are buying from a private individual who is the original owner of the gun, this can tell you plenty of things abut how the gun was used. If he has plenty of guns, chances are he's a hobbyist and might take great steps to maintain his guns. While this means it was probably lubrcated and cleaned correctly, it might have a higher round count that it's good looks indicate. For contrast, a guy thatowns only one or two guns for protection and isn't really into them might be selling a gun with aonly a box or two of rounds through it that looks like shit because he never cleaned it and let it slide around in his spare tire well for a couple of years. While superficially worn, it would likely be in great shape internally after a cleaning. If you're buying used at a store, then you lose the ability to discern anything about the gun from clues about the owner. 4. Unless it's a fantastic deal, if you have doubts about the safety or reliability, I'd pass on it and wait for something with a more obvoius pedigree to come along. |

I just took my 26 apart. Sorry 'cuz I just saw your thread. I've got + or - 1K rnds thru mine. The only wear I see in mine is some rubbing at the top of the barrel starting about 1/4" back from the muzzle and at the feed ramp. "Considerable finish wear" ... I see none. BTW ... reloads and Fed 9BP is the steady diet. Hope that helps. Stay safe |

I need to give a shout out to the boys at Lone Wolf. They are the dudes. Crazy Don in Idaho, you are the Glock God! Anyway, I picked up a well used first gen Glock 22. Lots and lots of rounds. Sent it back to the Lone Wolf guys. They updated all the parts that needed updating. I think it was like $40 in junk. Thousands of rounds later. No problems. Never a jam. The point is that the consumable parts on a Glock are easy to replace and cheap. The finish on these things in usually so tough that you don't see wear. -Z |

Good luck man! I've had my Glock 26 for abuot a decade and it has TENS OF THOUSANDS of rounds through it. There is almost no wear on it. Only wear took place in the first 2500 rounds then it stopped completely. The one part the showed a bit of wear was where the barrel locks with the slide. Another part was slight "peening" of the slide because I use hot ++p ammo at the range. Other than that....nothing. |
