Why are Glock owners so fanatical about Glocks? Sort of reminds me of how Macintosh owners are. Now don't get me wrong, I think Glocks are great guns (carried a G17 in combat for a year in Iraq, a gift from the Iraqi Army) but they are nothing more special than anything else out there IMHO. Seems like whenever there is a topic about handgun X, 75% of the thread is composed of Glock owners telling you why Glocks are better and the other pistol is crap. I like Glocks, Sigs, Kimbers, XDs, etc. I don't shit on anyone elses guns, so why do Glock owners shit all over everyone elses? Sort of reminds me of little mans disease. ![]()

i bought a used G17, with holster wear on it 10 years ago. since then ive put at least 5,000 rounds through it, and only replaced the ejector, ( $3.20 ) and the recoil spring which a glock armorer put in free of charge. ive dropped it in the edge of a lake on accident, pulled it out of the mud, rinsed it out in the sink, did a VERY quick cleaning to it and shot 150 rounds the next day to clear out the rest of the sand, without any misfires. it is pretty accurate, fits my hands pretty good, high capacity at a low price... those are the reasons i like my glock. ETA im partial to glocks also... i had a brand new H&K USP .45 that i couldnt hit the broadside of a barn with, yet when i sold it and bought a G21 i couldnt have been happier... just something about the trigger and grip for me. my only bitch about my G17 is it does NOT like 115 grain el-cheapo ammo... but if i run 124 grain or higher it ejects just fine |

Hey Stryker, did anyone give you any trouble about carrying a g17 over in Iraq? Seems like a much better choice than the m9. I think glocks do there job and dont cost that much thats why I like mine but nothing really impresses me that much about them. Kinda like an AK, they work, they are easy to clean there cheap whats not to like! |

I've owned 4 Glocks (35,27,23 and 22) and out of the 5K+ rounds that I've shot through all of them I've never had a FTF,FTE or any problem of any kind. However, I've also bought a brand new Kimber and after 700rds it still wouldn't work right, a brand new Springfield Armory stainless GI that worked great out of the box except when using HPs that took another 300rds to get the gun to feed HPs flawlessly, I've owned a Taurus PT145 that shot ok until on it's 400th round the recoil spring broke and I've owned a P3AT that I had to send back to the factory to make the gun reliable. So out of the 5 name brand guns (and I bought all of them brand new) that I've owned, Glock has been the one that has been dead reliable and have never had a problem with any of them. |

Glock owners are a lot like mac owners. We know quality and the future when we see it, and we don't settle for anything less...just like Mac owners. Sure there are a lot more 1911's out there than Glocks, just like there are more PCs than Macs, but like the Mac the Glock is heartier, more reliable, better made, has more capacity and more power. Also, in the same way that the Mac has less susceptible to viruses than PCs, the Glock is less susceptible to the elements than 1911s. |
|
I'm with you, Stryker, I like 'em all. I have to agree with the Glock/AK analogies, though. Glocks are cheap and they go bang every time (mine are very accurate as well). Lot's of expensive guns out there that don't perform as well... Still saving for my Les Bauer Thunder Ranch. |

The reasons I love Glocks are many but, it is just a tool. And another thing.....with my Sig or H&K I'm FUCKING TIRED OF PAYING $40 to $50 BUCKS A FUCKING MAG!!!!! FUCK'EM!!! Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck the Mother Fuckers.... ![]() www.ebaumsworld.com/2006/07/scarfacefword.html www.ebaumsworld.com/2006/07/lebowski.html |
Ahhh... it's not just me!!! I love my Macs and love my Glocks. That said, I just couldn't resist:
|
+1 why I like both. |
We were a line platoon from Dec 2004 through March 2005. In March the new focus was MiTT. My platoon was sent over to an IA company to train and operate with them. I was resistant at first. Then I realized, I was the most powerful 2nd Lt in Iraq. I had my platoon and an Iraqi infantry company (250) at my command. I didnt have sector limits in my BN AO, and actually crossed into other BN battlespace. Noone cared because as long as I had IA with me I could go anywhere and do anything. Me and the IA Co planned everything. I learned alot out on my own like that. We ran pretty hard. Took about 5 BN HVTs out and plenty of caches. Most of the time the IA were pathetic, but there were glimmers of brilliance at times. I've seen a squad of KIAs because they became complacent on fixed site security and Ive seen them move like SEALs (once when we were hitting Uday Hussiens driver/bodyguards house). |
thanks Stryker, Bloody Bucket I see! one of my buddies from OSUT was heading back there. You know the NCO in the pic with the pathfinder badge he has a Ranger tab and something else above his unit patch, whats the other tab ?? Sapper?? SF? |
He was my 1SG, former engineer and now an infantryman. Harder than woodpecker lips and smarter than Steven Hawking. He has both the Ranger and Sapper tabs on his tower of power. |
Different strokes for differnt folks. I was just the opposite. I couldn't hit the braod side of a barn with a Glock .45 and my range instructor even suggested that I step down from the .45 to a 9mm... I hung onto the Glock until I could get a couple extra hundred bucks together and then traded it in on a .45 USP Compact. I went back and took the same EP course over again and was double-tapping a 2" circle in the head of a B27 in the CQB drills. That was almost 10 years ago and its the same weapon that I just unstrapped before I sat down to dinner this evening. |
EXACTLY! I've owned a shitload of pistols in the past along with Glocks, all the other pistols are gone but I still have 3 Glocks. They may not be as pretty or have the wow factor some of the custom 1911's do, but they work everytime I pull the trigger. |
Hey stryker, I'm heading off to IOBC next month, do you have any advice for me or any advice for when I come back and get deployed. What helped you out there, seems like you had a ton of responsibility with the IA company and your platoon. thanks ! |
hmmmm, i like mine better.
|
| Icarried a Beretta 92 for my first few years in LE. I got a Glock M22 before our department made it mandatory. That thing shot so damn good, was lighter and had a larger caliber with the same amount of rounds. I ended up switching right over to it. Since then, i've bought 5 more glocks. Sure they're not fancy, but they get the job done, get it done right, and get it done with no hang ps. |
You know both of those are Mac's, right? ![]() Please stop with the Mac= Glock stuff. I give my wife so much crap about her Mac's, I don't want anything to remind me of them when I shoot my G-21. I really love my G-21. I have large hands and the grip angle works for me well. I have made the decision to only train with one type of pistol and will not be getting a 1911. I've shot 1911's and wasn't that impressed. |
|
I like 1911s. I wouldnt feel "undergunned" with one. I just see that glocks are: inexpensive, accurate, reliable, I dont have to reload as often, and I LIKE the trigger and grip angle. from all the reports Ive seen from ACTUAL gunfights, you dont want to have an 8/9/10 pistol. |

my new background pick ![]() LMFAO does it play MP9's I bet you really do have to be pro-fesh-un-ul to rock that. |
Amen! It's a joke that was a little bit funny at first, but got lame really quick. But there some people that just beat it to death. I like my Glock a lot. I don't think its an order of magnatude better than all the other guns. But it flat out works, so way change. |
Sick sick sick, and twisted...
|
No kidding. I own both too... but sadly my Kimber has been a lot less reliable than my Glock. The only reliability issues I've had with my Glock were cycling rounds with a new suppressor, which is somewhat expected during "break-in" as I understand it. I'm not a die-hard kool-aid drinker, but I'd probably pick up another Glock before just about anything else out there save a few. |
