[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Glock bashing time (Page 1 of 3)

I hate the way the texturing wears smooth, after getting worn daily for just half a dozen years, and several dozen cases of ammo fired.
I hate the way the black finish gets ground through, when sand and hydro gets into the holster. I hate the way the supposedly "Impervious" Tenifer", takes on a blueish/black patina, that is tougher than any known finish, after the Tenifer is exposed to a regular mashing, in rotten Blueberrys and grease. I hate the way welding slag melts into the grip, and then burns the shit out of your hand after putting the flames on the flannel shirt. I hate the way burnt flannel sticks to melted Glock magazine floorplates. Other than that, I hate the Gen 4. screwing up an otherwise brilliant design. |

I actually will get a Glock soon, I've shot one and it was smooth as butter, and they are reliable, so I will probably add one to my collection. I have heard they recalled some GEN4's don't know much about it though! |

So far so good. I took a beginner class with it, and we shot 300 rounds straight. Quoted:

Do talon grips easily peel off? Can they survive "hard use"? I took a beginner class with it, and we shot 300 rounds straight. whats your problem w/ the Gen 4 Glocks? |

Quoted: The flush fitting mag catch is one of the best features of the Glock for carry. Of course, I'm sure you wouldn't know anything about that, being from California and all. ETA: The Tango down mag catch makes it way easier to release the mag imo.
Yes I have carried it while camping and around my house. |

My only bitch about glocks is that everyone has one, and everyone of those people like to talk about how they are the best gun in existence.
They are ugly as a bag of dicks, simple and utilitarian, but they work and are suprisingly accurate, and thats why I hate them. |

Do talon grips easily peel off? Can they survive "hard use"? Talon grips will not stand up to normal use for long. Big waste of money IMO. I put some on my XDS and they lasted about 6 months before peeling off. I carry daily and shoot at the range a couple times a month. $20 every six months plus the aggravation of replacing them makes Talons not worth it to me. |

I took a lighter to mine to heat them up and then squeezed real hard so they would stick.

Quoted: Oh, you carried it around your house a couple times? Well then, I will defer to your expertise. Quoted: Quoted: Yes I have carried it while camping and around my house. Oh, you carried it around your house a couple times? Well then, I will defer to your expertise. Is the Tango Down mag catch really not as flush as the factory?

Is the Tango Down mag catch really not as flush as the factory? If you look at a stock Glock from the rear, you will note that the mag catch is perfectly even with the grip. It is said that the TangoDown catch is perfectly suitable for carry, I was just stating that the stock catch is the way that it is for a reason. |

Kind of dumb reason whatever it may be imo, since it limits my mag changes by making me change my grip to hit the mag catch.YMMV.

Damn that sucks mine lasted a year of good use, and I shot 3-4 times a month for 6 months that year. Did you put them on right. I took a lighter to mine to heat them up and then squeezed real hard so they would stick. Quoted:

I cleaned the gun with the alcohol swabs they provided. Allowed it to air dry. Then put the Talons on and heated them up with my wife's turbo super hot hair dryer. All the while squeezing the grips onto the gun. I carry my XDS IWB for 12-14 hours a day. I think my body heat plus perspiration is what broke down the glue. |

I own most of the common auto pistols and all of them require me to change my grip to activate the mag catch. That is a good thing. You don't want to be able to hit the catch while having a firing grip. i have big hands, with the exception of a double stack para, and a desert eagle, i can hit the mag release without changing my grip on every autopistol i have ever shot. |

I don't like the take down procedure, especially the two little switches you have to hold down with a fingertip. I much prefer the way Sig does it. That being said, I love my Glocks. Technically, it's one piece.
But I agree, breaking down my Sig is much easier. |
