| My friend has a fairly heavy dirt track go-kart that just needs an engine. I wanna get it running this year and I want it to have some serious balls. Where is a good place to find used kart engines? I've been looking on ebay and they have a brand new 16hp engine for about $350 after shipping. Is 16hp overkill? They had some 11hp engines used that were being bid on that looked decent. |

what is it set up for? a Briggs type motor? If you are open to any motor I agree with the poster said get a old dirt bike motor a good 2 stroke 125cc should make apox 15 HP a 250cc probably pushing 40hp id say 15-20 hp is probably about right look on ebay for a Kohler or Honda motor if you wanna go 4 stroke lawn mower motor or you could gt a 1000cc GSXR motor like HERE

An old shaft-drive motorcycle motor (~850cc) will work nicely for you... Will make one hell of a fast go-kart though... |
