Do you think it is likely that gold bullion will ever be confiscated again like it was in 1933?

If so, do you think collectibles will be exempt again?
And finally, how do you feel about investing in silver bullion and coins? Is it a better deal than gold right now?

Back then most people thought silver was over priced.

I think a lot has to happen first - "confiscating" it here in the USA would be instant SHTF because it would undermine ALL stability left in the markets.

However, we're still too "sorta, maybe - well, Recovery?" for that to happen.

We'll have to fail a few treasury auctions first....  and "they" are doing their best to keep that from happening.

So, I vote Yes - but other bad things have to finalize first.

I'm still pissed that my dad didn't listen to me back when gold was around $600/oz. It wasn't even all that long ago...  Had I not been in school at the time, and therefore broke, I would have been stacking bars of gold and silver like it was nobody's business.
To answer the question though, I voted no.

What would be the point of the .gov confiscating gold. It was done in 1934 because the US was on a gold standard. In order to print more money, the US .gov needed more gold. So they 'bought' it from US citizens when they confiscated it and then printed the money that the new gold backed.

The paper we use as money now, has no backing except faith that tomorrow,  someone will take it in exchange for something of value.

And the fed reserve keeps 'buying' more US treasuries, ie/ keeps printing more money. there is no benefit or requirement to confiscate anything except maybe blank paper.

That is why I am hoarding blank paper
