I thought it would be good to start a religious book topic where we can recommend books we are reading. If this needs to be in the book forum you can move it, just thought it would have more interest here. It doesn't just have to be Christian books, it could be any faith. I know I read all kinds of stuff. Anyway I just finished reading Know What You Believe by Paul E. Little. It covers all the basics of the Christian faith and it was very easy to understand. I'm about halfway through Heaven by Randy Alcorn. I also like it, but it is over 500 pages and its taking awhile to get through it. So what are you reading and did you like it?

I enjoy most of Alcorn's stuff.  Sometimes he's a little long winded, but generally has very deep topics.  Mere Christianity and the Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis.  Ted Dekker if you're into supernatural thrillers (similar to Frank Perretti).  Dekker's Trilogy (Black, Red, and White) are a must to start with.  Also, Thunder of Heaven (by Dekker) is like the story of Job, but happens to a non-believer. Along those lines, James Byron Huggins is a good read, mostly supernatural thrillers, but RORA is a great historical fiction book based on true events (by Huggins).  Rora is an amazing book on all fronts.  That's a start.

C.S. Lewis is great. I liked Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce. Mere Christianity is really deep stuff, I need to read that one again. I haven't read any Ted Dekker, I've heard it was kinda strange but good. Good stuff. Thanks

Also, if you can find "God in the Dock" by C.S Lewis, get that one.  It's a bunch of his talks/radio addresses/notes all in one book.  It covers a bunch of topics, most are pretty short so it's not as easy to get bogged down in.

Historical Christian Fiction….Check out G.A Henty! I wish I had found him when I was a kid. They were written in the 1800’s so the English is a tad difficult.

Of course you can’t have a list without Mr. John’s classic Pilgrims Progress.

Non fiction:
Ravi Zacharias stuff is always good. These are the ones I have read but he has a ton.
Jesus among other Gods.
The Lotus and the Cross: Jesus talks with Buddha.
Who Made God?
Walking from East to West.

Check out Erwin Lutzers stuff I can recommend his books with out any reservations.
Again, I’ll only mention the ones I have read entirely.
Hitler’s Cross….(Must read!)
The Truth about Same sex marriage.
Ten lies about God and how you might already be Deceived.
He has one titled “Is God on Americans Side” It’s on my list of must reads.

A few extras that should be must reads on every list.

Conviction Without Compromise: Standing Strong in the Core Beliefs of the Christian Faith by Norman Geisler

Morning and Evening by C.H Spurgeon….best devotion ever!
If you enjoy Sermons you can find a lifetime supply of His in printed form.

Don' t Waste Your Life by John Piper….great Book!

Hell? …Yes!  10 Outrageous Truth...: Seven Absolutes You Can Still Believe (Paperback)

Hello~ I guess by now you have finished the "Heaven" book by Randy Alcorn....since the date of this post was 3-9-09.  I read that book also and LOVED IT!  It is long, but I like to read.  After reading it, I bought a couple of copies of it in the CD version.  I gave one set away to my hair dresser.  Her husband had died about a year ago.  Unfortunate tree surgeon accident, and young!  The other set I keep and loan out from time to time, or just to listen to myself while driving.

Another good book, by Randy Alcorn also, is "DeadLine".

And, if you believe in and study Bible prophesy (aka Domestic Right-Wing Terrorist) as I do.........the book by Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkins "Are We Living In The End Times?" is a must read!

A Table in the Presence   by LT. Carey H. Cash
I read this book awhile ago. I let a ex-marine at my church read it and he really liked it.
LT. Cash was a Chaplin in a marine unit that fought in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom
in 2003. Great book, especially if you were in the military.

Prince of Darkness, Antichrist and the New World Order  by Grant R. Jeffery. This is the 1st book I have read by
Grant Jeffery, I thought it was very interesting. It is a little dated since it came out in the 90's. I could tell he did
a lot of research and he seems to know Bible prophecy very well.
