Friend of mine and I were discussing how much we like a quality beer.
He says he's also a "coffee snob" and how his family drinks PEET's coffee. http://www.peets.com/fvpage.asp?rdir=1& http://www.peets.com/shop/coffee_detail.asp?id=118&cid=1005 I order some, and it's like CRACK We love it. these fucking left coast hippie fucks can make damn good coffee. It's like the DILLON precision, LARUE, STI 1911, Daniel Defense of caffeine goodness OK, coffee snobs, what's your favorite stuff ? ? ? ?

Heck...we drink the World Market's brand...usually Peaberry one. Tanzanian right now. It's darned good stuff. Peet's is good, though... ETA: http://www.worldmarket.com/product/world-marketreg-tanzanian-peaberry-whole-bean-coffee.do?&from=fn Don't pay that much for it, though...they have specials and what not that brings the price down in half (B1G1 stuff) ETA2: I want to try this one http://www.deathwishcoffee.com/buy-now.html |

That looks pretty cool. Which roast is the darkest/strongest flavor? |
| I have a roaster literally a quarter of a mile from my house. They're part of the Wisconsin Roasters Coop (I think that's the name...) and their chain of custody for beans is something like 3-4 links. I don't think it's possible to get fresher coffee unless you live on a coffee plantation. |

Peet's, Counter Culture, Intelligensia, Kicking Horse are all good semi-nationally distributed brands. Locally to me there is Quill's, Sunergos, and Heine Bros. that are all good. When I lived in Utah, Salt Lake Roasting Co. was the shit. They roasted in house daily and the owner is a cool guy.
All that said, I've found the biggest difference in the quality of my coffee was had by getting a quality burr grinder. The taste in coffee - same brand and roast - between what I have now and what I drank when I had a cheaper blade grinder is a night and day difference. |

Some of the best I've had, but I am by no means a connoisseur IMO. I have an electric drip, french press, and a stove-top percolator I use depending on my mood.

We have been ordering coffee from the fatherless foundation lately I end up getting a couple of bags of beans a month, my favorite is the Ethiopian and the Nicaraguan. It is pretty good, and it helps to Support war orphans from the countries of origin of the coffee.
I have gotten in the habit of drinking lighter roasts in the morning for the extra caffeine and darker roasts at night. |

I roast my own beans, hand grind them and run them through a drip. Every third or fourth pot is truly heaven. are there any good web sights with info on home roasting? I have been thinking about getting into that. Try this to start. There is a forum. I buy alot of my beans from Sweet Maria's. Sweet Marias |

Tried it. Like PEETS much better |

I am currently involved in exporting coffee from Papua New Guinea. I can say hands down the blue mountain hand picked coffee we have is the best I've ever had. If you've ever seen dangerous grounds there's an on travel channel there's a segment on it. Amazing stuff. |

Quoted: I picked up some Kickapoo Ethiopian Biloya in NE IA. They are based in Viroqua and part of the co-op. Is that the co-op you were thinking of?Quoted: I have a roaster literally a quarter of a mile from my house. that cat shit coffee is supposed to be pretty damn good.
Peet's is the heat, but spendy. I buy this shit over at Wally called "Cafe Bustello" comes in a small, 10oz yellow can. It is in an espresso powder, so a few scoops makes meth look like a sleep-inducing drug. |

Quoted: Whatever they serve at Bucc-ee's at 3am. http://www.bucees.com/map.html Crap. They serve crap. That was our morning stop when I was down there- coffee and a couple ham kolaches. Asked my friend if there were any real coffee places in town, he said he didn't know of any. Of course you guys have Starbucks but that shit is barely any better. It took me a couple days to figure out why there aren't any good coffee joints in Texas, but finally I did. When it is 90 degrees by eight in the morning, and 100 by ten, the last thing I wanted was a hot cup of coffee. I switched to Monsters, Red Bulls and sweet tea pretty quick.
