Shooting
For those of you who don't live in Florida, we have Castle Doctrine and it extends outside of your home.  I personally think the guy wouldn't have gotten shot if he had not showed up like the resident told him not to.  Besides what were his intentions showing up to someone's home that owed him money and said he wasn't going to pay?

Doesn't sound like it. There doesn't seem to be any evidence that the shootee posed any threat to the shooter.

bad shoot, you can only respond in kind,  deadly force with deadly force, not deadly force against deadly farce.

Bad shoot.......shooter is going to jail.  There was no threat.  Just trespassing is not enough.  There is no mention of a weapon and it states he was backing away.  Assuming that is correct.... shooter fucked up. Shooter also lied and said he was in the house.

WADR, that's not entirely accurate.  I agree it was a bad shoot, but under your thought process what would you do if your house was invaded by seven unarmed teens that we're just stealing stuff?  If they're not armed, how can they pose a "deadly threat" against you??  It's all out articulation and not being a dumbass.

When deputies interviewed Munson as a suspect, he initially pleaded self-defense. He said Decoteau had come inside his home and was attacking him, the Sheriff's Office reported.

During the investigation, several witnesses and Munson himself gave conflicting accounts of what happened, and investigators eventually determined that Munson shot Decoteau without provocation.

Oh good shoot, definitely.

Speculation only, but this sounds like a something drug related. Two shit-birds going at it and one ended up getting shot.

Anyways, I'd be more inclined to call this a good shoot if there weren't conflicting stories from other witnesses. It looks like a bad shoot.

I thought the FL castle doctrine made it clear that if they are in your house they are assumed to be there to do great bodily harm?

I don't know Floridas law, and your question is exactly what I was getting at by questioning 3trips thought process.

Not everybody that owns a gun is a good guy. Hard to believe for some, but true. Your thought process is totally jacked up if you think for a second that this was a good shoot.

Bad shoot.

That said, after a guy with a gun tells you he's going through opiate withdrawal, the phrase "What are you going to do, shoot me?" is not the smartest reply you could come up with...
