Hello USAA!!!
Admittedly I should have done this long ago. We were with Progressive for over 3 years. Originally signed up my my fiancee with Progressive before we were married and they were violating us to the tune of over 400 dollars a year for minimal coverage. Found out about their politics on here and had been meaning to get around to it but always had too much going on to worry about one more thing. Glad I finally did it. Got way more coverage for less money. |

Watch your declarations page. I love USAA, but the last two vehicles I added to our policy were set up with collision coverage even though I said not to add that. BTW- if you buy a motorcycle, you'll be back with Progressive, that's who USAA outsources their MC insurance.

Tried to setup our motorcycles and they said, "Oh go back to Progressive for that." |

One of the things that kept me too overwhelmed to handle business as I should was the loss of my sister in a motorcycle wreck this summer. I am now an only child. I can never even so much as get on a bike now (couldn't take the chance of doing that to my folks) much less own one. |

I use Progressive and have their data monitoring devices on my cars for an extra discount (Car Chip thing that plugs into the OBD2 port and records when you drive, how fast, how long, etc...) Politics aside, none of the other insurance providers offered reasonable rates. |

Not sure if http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/28/progressive-myrate-drive-monitoring-device-goes-national/ Progressive insurance has been testing out the MyRate driving monitoring system for a few years now (it used to be called TripSense), but it's finally taking the system national, bringing pay-as-you-drive insurance into the mainstream. The little blue box plugs into your car's ODB II diagnostic port (all cars made after 1996 have one), and studiously records your driving habits, wirelessly sending the data back to Progressive HQ |

They got their start insuring "high risk" drivers, the ones nobody else wanted. From the one time I tried to deal with them, I got the impression that they've never made the jump into the world of insuring "normal" folks with regards to customer service. I lasted about four weeks with them before telling them to piss off. |

It's not like I have anything to hide anyway. |

I would have switched to USAA a long time ago if I were able to.
As much as I hate progressive's politics, they've offered me the best rate for 4 years running. I'll never forgive Allstate for the outrageous rates they tried to charge me when I was younger or State Farm for not even giving me a quote back then. I've always had a spotless record; if they didn't want my money then, they aren't getting it now. Liberty mutual is decent, but jacked up rates due to bad investments |
