So yesterday morning my gf took the dog out to do his business and came back in crying that one of our outdoor rodent machine barn cats had just been hit a by car and asked if I'd go get her.  My house is about 70 yards from the road and when I walked out onto the porch and looked it definitely looked like our cat laying there in the road. Bummer.  You know, it sometimes happens especially with outdoor cats but you kinda get used to that.  But that one was especially good and I was sad so I walked out to get her and as I got to the road and walked up up on her I realized it wasn't our cat at all. It was a frikkin skunk and the strangest skunk I ever saw. It was white with black spots but not like a normal skunk and it was definately alive but in shock.  I told the gf that it wasn't our cat but maybe I should dispatch this thing and put it out of its misery so I went back to the house and got a scoop shovel and a gun (P229 if it matters)  and came back out and noticed this thing was kind of waking up.  So I decided lets just get it off the road first because it didn't seem all that injured, but would definately be killed by another car shortly if it stayed where it was. It had its bell rung real good though.  When I shoveled it up it came alive and tried to spray me but it was ineffective because she had already shot her load when she was hit and it was all over the road.

She sat by the side of the road for about an hour and then got up and wandered away eventually....maybe to die or maybe she'll be back around later who knows. She gave me the impression though that she wanted to be left alone so that that is what I did. silly cat.

Like that eyeglasses commercial where the gal lets her "kitty" (raccoon) in the house. The other night I popped a skunk and it had zero white on it.
