| I think it's pretty cool, but my use of it is limited to just...looking at stuff (and occasionally finding directions). Do any of you use it for anything? |

Area Calculator
http://www.daftlogic.com/sandbox-google-maps-area-calculator-tool.htm Distance Calculator http://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-distance-calculator.htm I use it all the time to look at directions, topology, hunting spots, real estate, etc. When you add some tools to it like the above you can make rough estimates for food plots, materials needed for fencing, field sizes, distance behind your berm before you hit something that will sue you, the possibilities are endless. On my Droid it incorporates my location and becomes a GPS. I can voice command ask for anything from stores, to airports, to a local Dr and it pulls them up. Google local does the same thing on my PC. Plus it gives reviews of whatever is pulled up. Then there is the whole street view thing so I can see where I'm going to go before I've been there. |
I use it to stake out Silveradoguy'a house and vehicles.

I have downloaded some cool layers and overlays off of the Google Earth web page. I have one that shows all the LZ locations the US military used in the Vietnam War along with other military base locations and such. I also have overlays of WWII battlefields and troop movements. when you get into adding layers and overlays, it is really cool to see what information is out there. There are also the Google Earth Tours. My favorite so far is the tour of the approach to the old Hong Kong Airport. I think landing on an aircraft carrier was safer. |
