I was looking on Google maps today and got to thinking about how much personal info is out there on the net for anyone to find out.  I can see a street view and an arial view of my house that show some very clear detail of my property.  This has me alittle worried about security.  I mean any yahoo can look you and your address and get more real info on your living conditions and property layout.  Does this worry anybody else?

You aint seen nothing. We were looking at it at work and they got a picture of my coworker! She was going to get her trash can from the curb. Needless to say she was PISSED.

I'm far enough out in the country that they only have a blurry picture of my place.I hope it stays that way.

No concern here, I'm in the woods, Google, doesn't even have the road I'm on.  It's nice being off the grid.

What is someone going to gain by seeing an aerial view of your property?  Will they see your grow operation?  Or your 50 classic cars that you store outside?

They could use it to get the lay of the land, but they could get that with topo map.

You can contact Google Maps and have them take your house photo down. They will do it.

Of course we're all on google earth in out dated pics, but there is no street view of my place as of yet. And even if they decide to take one someday, my house is not visible from the road anyway.

Yep. Why do we need that info floating around the net?  What better way to plan a home invasion.

I had google take the street view of my house off of google earth.

They will do it if you ask.

Doesn't bother me. Most people live in tract housing and every other house has the same layout.

You think Google maps view is detailed?

Check out Live Search Maps and go to "birds eye view".

The feds get much more detailed pictures of your house. They can probably tell you how many spots your dog has by looking at their pictures.

There is a google maps photo of you at the ATM. I can read your credit card number and expiration date.

Good lord.  I guess I'm part of the evil machine then, I push thousands of real estate listings to zillow every night.  And a bunch of other sites, too.

THANK YOU!

You guys have your tin foil on too tight...anybody with a ladder or just walking down the street can see all the same stuff that Google Earth/Maps provides...

You are also quite high and mighty to think that somebody will use that data to launch an assault on your 1/8 acre "compound"...

I live way out in the sticks of England.  The "satellite" aka aerial shot of my house was taken before my house was even built, at least 6 years old.
