im running firefox, when i try to search google using the tool bar it just comes up "Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com."
now if i go to google.com it comes up fine, but when i search it just goes to a blank screen. BUT if i search under images, or go to google maps everything works fine..also if i change the toolbar to search using yahoo or bing everything works fine...im assuming this is some kind of virus/spyware/malware crap..i ran a check with malwarebytes but it didnt find anything...anybody have any suggestions? ALSO, theres an svchost.exe using like 500,000k of memory and i think its slowing down my computer at times..i can list all the services under that particular svchost if that will help.. |

It'd try this first: Clear Cookies & Cache
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Template:clearCookiesCache Clear the Network Cache https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How%20to%20clear%20the%20cache#w_clear-the-cache Troubleshooting extensions and themes https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20extensions%20and%20themes Then I'd try this: http://www.selectrealsecurity.com/malware-removal-guide
Then I'd visit: www.bleepingcomputer.com
Lastly: Reformat your hard drive and install Linux
Ok, that's just a joke! Don't do that! |

Yay! One problem down, 73 million to go! Do you have a live scanner in place? Malwarebytes has a paid version, that will monitor incoming streams. It's saved my bacon a time or 12. This is in conjunction with a good virus scanner. Me, I like it when I get the "suspicious site blocked" notice. It means the computer was smarter than I was! |
