I've had some almost horizontal lines about an inch apart for a few months.  I can't adjust them out with the controls on the monitor. They are very fine and about an inch apart when it's warmed up & wider when it's cold.

The card is a 3dfx voodoo 3 and the monitor is a Dell P991 (Trinitron?).  I don't mind buying a new flatscreen but if it's something else I'd like to fix whatever's broke. This setup is almost 5 years old but the 'puter works well yet so I'd like to get some more mileage out of it if possible. Dell Dimension XPS T500 Pentium III 500Mhz 384 mb ram

How do I diagnose the problem? Any ideas from you tech guys?   Thanks, Bruce

Thanks for the reply,

I tried every possible adjustment and it still has the lines. I've never messed with the driver. Sometime last year I upgraded from 98SE to XP home edition. How does one go about finding the most current driver for a 5 year old system?

Red_5, Thanks for the linky. I'll sort through the options this evening. It sounds like this may be the problem...Hopefully!   Worst case I can probably upgrade both the monitor and the card.

Jetlag, The lines are about 1 inch apart and slightly higher on the right side than the left... I'm ALMOST getting used to them but now I'm on a mission!

                                                                          I appreciate the suggestions, Bruce

Got a new LCD 19" monitor this evening..... I forgot how things are supposed to look!!!! It's a KDS from Circuit City and it is amazing for under $400.00.  Thanks for the help guys but it was just the monitor showing it's age.
