The USA is not real big on canard designs. Makes for some cool profiles.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyushu_J7W
They were impressed by it's performance, but I do not think they flew them for more than 45minutes, only two were made. Jets for them were never made.

Your correct, forgot about that one.
Aircraft disposition

42-78845: crashed during vertical dive on Nov 15, 1943. Pilot bailed out.[6]

42-78846: on display at the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It is on long-term loan from the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.[7]

42-78847: crashed during air show at Wright Field, Ohio on May 27, 1945. Pilot killed.
I would not have wanted to test fly it.

The Northrop XP-56 was another interesting pusher design.

Northrop also built a jet flying wing fighter.  The XP-79 crashed on its first flight, killing the pilot.

Wouldn't you if you had been in their position?  I know I would have. Mannerheim was willing to sell his soul to keep Finland free. And he nearly did.

The Swastika was a long held traditional symbol that was in use in Finland LONG before the Nazi Party came to be...

The Finish Air Force used the Swastika as a External National marking in 1918...   The Swastika was associated with Good Luck!

The Finns stopped using the Blue Swastika in 1945 because it had become associated with Nazi-ism

Hell ya. The Finns who fought back the Soviets and later the Nazis have my respect. A small country with limited resources versus two 800 lb Gorillas. My most prized gun is a Finn M39 with a Hex Receiver and a 1934 (I think) date. Might have been used to kill both Nazis and Commies.

Very good to remember that nearly 75 years later, that picture is one of the key reasons we are celebrating today.   That picture was most likely taken in Italy as the allies were pushing North.

It's the anniversary of the start of the Winter War

Russia still runs with other being Finland who started the war because Russians simply cannot stop being Russian. A couple days ago their MFA celebrated "liberating" us.

Huh,didn't realize Russian tweets wouldn't display here but it says that the Winter War that killed hundreds of thousands  started when Finland shelled a village in Russia.

The rear prop on the Dornier has a big dent in the center cap. No clue how they managed that.

I built a Do335 model as a kid. Pretty fun build

The bottom plane is the only surviving example, now on display at the NASM. It was returned to Germany for restoration at Dornier, and the workers found that the explosives used to jettison the rear tail and prop in case of a bail out were still active.

I think it was in Tom Blackburns book, were they modified drop tanks, with little propellors to stir home made ice cream.

at 33,000 ft the mix would freeze.

Here's a similar story...

Yeah it is pretty damn cool, funny the Brits were first to beer bomb. I did read about the ice cream runs in the pacific. They had it figured out how long to stay at x altitude to ensure quality-now that is ingenuity. The beer run article talks about how the beer was cold too, but can you imagine being the pilot that takes a bad hop on landing? No beer guys sorry,  Lt. Knumbnuts  nosed over
