| I ETSed from active duty in August (while college is nice, I wished I stayed in). I decided to join the Army guard in novemeber. I am an E-5 11B (4 years active). Some dudes told me about the Tour of Duty webpage were you can volunteer for deployments with other states. The list doesnt seem comprehensive and I am doubting if every state deploying bothers to list on there. I was also told that word of mouth about deployments is the best way to jump on one, so I am coming here to see if any infantry units in the country are deploying and have openings for temporary IST (I think the is what it is called). I want to catch one more deployment before the party is over. |
| AFAIK the days of ARNG BCT deployments are over. FORSCOM decided they were too expensive to activate, train and equip when we have plenty of active duty units to send instead. The best you can hope for are small teams to Afghanistan (SECFOR for PRTs, OMLTs, that sort of thing,) or battalion missions to the Sinai, Kuwait, Kosovo, etc. |

Have you tried using GKO (Guard Knowledge Online)
Once you log in, a "volunteer for a deployment" link is on the right side of the home screen You fill out what you want and they circulate it amonst units that are being sent out the door who can see if they want/need you It took me two weeks to get a call from a unit deploying 6 months later Spent 2011 enjoying the beauty that is Kandahar City |

I can find nothing on them deploying, it looks like they got back in 2011. Also a POG unit, will they even take 11Bs? They'll take anyone. And yes it is a POG unit. We have a 4 day weekend. I go back on Tuesday, I know the guys that work at JFH in the mob readiness office. I'll see what the deal is. It may have been scrubbed due to funds, but I looked at something the other day that said late fy 13 early fy 14 |
