I have a chance to pickup my son a couple DOD pedals tonght. (1980's era)

Problem is that I'm wondering how to test if they power up.

I just pcked up a 9v battery but just read the owners manual on-line.

It states to connect the input of the pedal to the guitar and the output to the amp this will connect the circuit...press the pedal and it will light up.

Will the led lights not power-up unless I complete the circuit (input/output) or will they light up just by putting in the battery and pressing the pedal?

Just want to make sure they power up and have no access to a gutair/amp.

Thanks

Loop the input to the output with the same cable. You SHOULD be able to verify that way.

My TS-808 and blues breaker won't light up unless there is a cable in and out.

Also make sure you take then out when not playing through them. It will drain the battery.

Not a lot that can go wrong with those but noisy or scratchy knobs or cable jacks.

They looked real clean and they are $10 each has 8-9 of them.

Yes. Plug cable into input jack and press switch if it lights its kosher.
But, the momentary switches on dods suck. So if you have to press really hard or more than once the switch is fuxxed.

Ps: the basics would be a distortion, a flanger/phaser/chorus and a delay. A compressor would be great for clean tones but not nessary.

Even busted you can flip them on EBay for more than that in parts.

Yup.  I'd buy all –– for $75
