| I have no problem with these programs IF stolen guns are returned to rightful owner. Opinions? |

They are programs designed to draw in little old ladies getting rid of their late husbands WW2 1911
and then made to look like they are taking drug dealers unwanted guns...because every time a drug dealer drives by a gun buyback program, he decides he will never need his gun again and those shoes and gift cards would be much nicer to have, they just change their ways at the sight of a gun buyback dont you know. I have stopped at one in orlando. 30% of the people were gun owners getting rid of old broken, crappy guns 10% were younger people getting rid of guns their parents or grandparents had left them and had no idea of the value 20% were people that had a gun for a long time but were never into shooting and were made to feel guilty by the media for owning one and decided to "help the cause" in otherwords...sheep. 40% were old ladies and older gentleman that were either trading in a late husbands gun or a gun a brother or other relative had left them and they had no idea the value. I never saw a single thug looking type or anyone that had a weapon that looked like it had been used in a crime or was in risk of falling into a criminals hands. In my opinion its for stupid people that feel guilty for owning a gun and have been scared off by the media from going to a gunshow and actually getting full value for their firearms. ETA~ I should add that im not 100% against the programs, what im against is how they are presented by the police and media. If you want to have a program to take the little old dudes unwanted garand his father left him and melt it down...so be it.. but say so. dont get on your little stool and shout that you are saving lives. I also expect stolen property to be returned and for people to be told the general value of the firearm they are trading for a $25 gift card. |

Waste of money. As long as tax payer funds aren't used I guess that's not an issue though. It's a feel good propaganda stunt that really doesn't help at all. The guns turned in are not likely to be used in a crime and the people that tend to participate aren't likely to use them in a crime either. At worst is affords a criminal a prime opportunity to get rid of a hot gun or one he used in a crime with no questions asked. destruction of evidence. Typically it is a bunch of useless junk turned in but a rare good gun sometimes gets turned it. A valuable gun may get destroyed that could be an important part of history just so some lefties can feel good about themselves. In the end it's nothing but a big feel good photo op propaganda stunt for left wingers and their useful idiots. It does no real good and may influence the weak minded that guns are a bad thing and need to be gotten rid of. They send the wrong message. |
