Does anyone know if all the pictures of the thugs in New Orleans has sunk in with people around the country and caused a surge in gun sales?  Friends of mine who have been without arms have asked how they get one.  I think the looting/lawlessness would show that in reality the only way to protect yourself is to arm yourself to protect your family.

Oh definately, you can bet gun sales are up. Not that it's really necessary. But you can bet people will react to this like they do to everything else, in a kneejerk fashion. In a few weeks, they'll all go back to being sheeple though, just like after 9/11.

But some of the people in the effected area will likely have a different take after all of this is over.

Had a big range day planned but postponed it as to not depleat my supply.  May buy a few more cases and try for next week.  Worst part is that my brand new Bushy M4gery is at Bushmaster getting fixed right now.  Probably won't get it back until next week either.    Oh well, guess the AC556K will have to step up to the plate until it gets back

+1 which model are you getting?  Is an M1A standard at $1350 too much?  That is my local shop's price.

My mother's Christmas present for this year from the family. 8 rounds of .38/.357

I own some S&W stock.  Has went from 2 bucks just a few months back to around 5 today.  I'm going to hold onto it a little longer and see how their sales were this quarter.

Our sales are steady right now. But we also have hunting season starting up and this is a good time of year for us anyway. This next show, 9-11, is usually one of the best shows of the year. We will see.

Personally I have picked up some extra ammo for the rat hole. Only a couple extra cases.
Wish I had a way to store gass!

If any good comes out of this mess, I hope it is the awareness that the police and government can't always be everywhere and the right of self protection and self preservation is something that shouldn't be encroached on.  It is times like this, and really only times like this, that show this to be true.  We live in this rosey, almost artificial world for the most part, but when the SHTF, like it has in N.O., that basic right needs to be there.  There will always be the lawless, it's in human nature.  The good of the world need rights like this.  Try to tell that to a Dem/liberal though.

What was the problem with it...are they still making purple receivers?

Yeah, I'm hitting my local gun store this weekend. Might try to get rid of an AK that I don't shoot and pick up some stuff for my M4 (scope, ammo mags). I've decided it would be better to stick to 5.56mm rifles that use AR mags, and I've got two already.

You sure know how to twist a knife.   The MAIN problem with it was FTEje/Ext.  I didn't want to be chasing gremlins in this thing for the next 10 years.  I am not supposed to have to fiddle with it to get it to work.  I have 1911's for that.    The OTHER problems with it are a blue upper receiver and some finish problems with the bbl.  I will go back to picking salt from my wounds, thanks.

Funny you should ask.....

A co-worker who owns a shot gun, deer rifle & a .22 (typical hunting gun only kinda guy) asked me this morning if I still had that AR15 for sale.

I said "Sure, but why now?"

He replied "I think it's time to be ready for bad things to happen"

A 22 to defend your castle?  Expecting to be invaded by rats and squirrels?h

Any gun, even a .22, would be vastly superior to not having one.

I'd hope that sales of preparedness supplies would be up also.

Oh, and common sense.  It'd be nice to see that commodity increase in the world, too.

i know for a fact they are.  In the last 3 days we sold almost 20 guns.  one guy bought a M4A3 bushmaster, case of .223, a Glock 19 and all the +p ammo. I have people coming in who have never touched a gun and buying them.
