Shit, I guess I'm really a thug or a drug dealer. Damn, this whole time I could have been out selling dope or shooting people for sport when instead I've been working and obeying the law. I don't understand why the evil influence of my useless rifles has not yet caused me to morph into a cop killing thug. Maybe if I hold it more I will be converted. Several people should go to his business and ask to see the most expensive revolver he has on display. Act like you love it and are ready to buy Then ask: Does this shoot once for each pull of the trigger? .. yes Hmmm, is this only used for hunting? ... It might be but it can be used for target shooting or home defense. You mean this could kill someone? ... sure. Oh my, I can't purchase this semi-automatic, people killing machine. | Just got off the phone with "Chuck". He said he never said anything about "thugs and dopeheads". But he did say the only reason those rifles were invented were for killing people and they don't serve a purpose now. They are no good for hunting. He also said too many police have been killed by them and that is why he doesn't like them. Fucking idiot. |

I can't believe this shit happened in Opelika of all places. That is just wrong. At first I was laughing at the Rezek guy's comments because he lives an hour and a half away from Opelika and that is about how far you have to go to find a person in this state (besides in the cities) that is against guns. And then I saw what Chuck the Fuck had to say. I used to live in Opelika and have driven by this guy's pawn shop many times. He is just like the majority of pawn shop owenrs I know. He takes advantage of poor people who need money and will do anything to get it. Chuck is not a fine, upstanding citizen and sure as hell should not be quoted in the newspaper. I think I may give him a call asking for a Bushie. Or maybe I will just drop by one day and see what he has to say for himself. This pisses me off  . |

It is not just fat pawnshop owners against SKS's. Mid Tompkins is one of the best highpower rifle shooters in the country. Maybe 4-5 years ago he was quoted at length in a newspaper article in which he said the NRA should have fought against importing SKS's and other Schumeresque ideas. The article was filled with quotes from him implying he thought they were drugdealers bullet hoses, etc. That article raised a HUGE fuss here and elsewhere. The author emphasised his quotes were not taken out of context, and Mid said he was misquoted. Final conclusion I recall was that someone was lying and was furiously backpedaling. |

This man strikes me as one who needs attention – and to get it he claims to break commonly held stereotypes in some feeble effort to get his name in the paper. Think about it – if a pawn shop owner in Alabama says he is ‘pro gun’, that is hardly worst mentioning; however if he says he is anti gun, then brother we have a story. This man does not deserve our ire, rather our pity for being such a attention whore with his 'look at me' attitude. As for Gun Control in Alabama – it has about as much chance of passing as Kerry has to carry the state (the last poll had Kerry at 35%) |
I dunno...I get interviewed by the Boston Glob, Fox news, and various local papers about everything from firearm legislation to historical reenactment, and they got it wrong EVERY time. Fox news was the worst, I'm sad to say. Distorted beyond belief. So, when I hear Chuck saying the media gave him a bum deal, I listen.... My policy now when the news people want to interview me? "No comment, fellas. I do not wish to be on TV/front page/whatever today." Period. End of story. If they're going to hang me, I'll be damned if I provide them the rope....
