pinhead libbers say they want to reduce crime BUT their comments say other wise
"Our task of creating a Socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed." Sarah Brady, Chairman, Handgun Control Inc.Source: The National Educator, January 1994, Pg.3 History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own fall. Adolf Hitler, Edict of 18 March 1939 And we should –– then every community in the country could then start doing major weapon sweeps and then destroying the weapons, not selling them. Bill Clinton, President, sworn defender of the U.S. Constitution I'm convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We're going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily –– given the political realities –– going to be very modest. Of course, it's true that politicians will then go home and say, 'This is a great law. The problem is solved.' And it's also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time. So then we'll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we'd be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal –– total control of handguns in the United States –– is going to take time. My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of *all* handguns and *all* handgun ammunition –– except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors –– totally illegal. Pete Shields, Chairman, Handgun Control Inc. "A Reporter At Large: Handguns", _The New Yorker_, July 26, 1976, 57-58] (Note: Pete Shields was the founder of HCI and its first Chairman.) When we got organized as a country and we wrote a fairly radical Constitution with a radical Bill of Rights, giving a radical amount of individual freedom to Americans ...And so a lot of people say there's too much personal freedom. When personal freedom's being abused, you have to move to limit it. That's what we did in the announcement I made last weekend on the public housing projects, about how we're going to have weapon sweeps and more things like that to try to make people safer in their communities. Edwin Meese III, Attorney General in the Reagan Administration We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans... Bill Clinton, USA Today, 11 March 1993, pg. 2a Gun Registration is not enough Janet Reno, 10 Dec 1993 Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal. Janet Reno The NRA...was right all along in fearing the waiting period was a camel's nose under the tent. Brady has now passed and it is time to reveal the rest of the camel! Handgun Control Inc., (HCI) President Richard Aborn (Dec. 8, 1993), Cleveland Plain Dealer. What good does it do to ban some guns. All guns should be banned Senator Howard Metzanbaum (D-OH) This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future! Adolph Hitler, 15 April 1935, in address to the Reichstag " We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans." ––Bill Clinton, USA TODAY, March 11, 1993 "We must get rid of all the guns." Sara Brady, Phil Donahue Show, September 1994 "Banning guns is an idea whose time has come." Sen. Joseph Biden, Associated Press, November 18, 1993 "Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe." Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Associated Press, November 18, 1993 "Until we can ban all of them, we might as well ban none." Sen. Howard Metzenbaum, Senate Hearings, 1993 "We're going to hammer guns on the anvil of relentless legislative strategy! We're going to beat guns into submission!" Sen. Charles Schumer, NBC Nightly News, November 30,1993 "Mr. speaker, I still believe that the best way to control handguns is to ban them outright." Rep. Cardiss Collins "...I also think you should not buy a gun anywhere...." Rosie O'donnel "I know it's in the Constitution, but you know what, ENOUGH! I would like to say, and I know it will sound extreme, but that no one can have a gun in the U.S., if you have a gun, you go to jail. Only the police and military should have guns, it's ridculous! Rosie O'donnel "Our cause has been aided by the deaths of all these children in all these schools, and in other settings." Bill Clinton, April 12, 2000 as reported by the Rocky Mountain News. "I honestly think, and I am not an expert on the amendments, I think the only people in this nation who should be allowed to own guns are police officers. I don't care if you want to hunt, I don't care if you think it's your right. I say, "Sorry!". It is 1999, we have had enough as a nation. You are not allowed to own a gun and if you do own a gun, I think you should go to prison." Rosie O'donnel (4/21/99) "The American people MUST be willing to give up a degree of personal privacy in exchange for safety and security." Louis Freeh, Director of the FBI, 1993 "The most effective means of fighting crime in the United States is to outlaw the possession of any type of firearm by the civilian populace." Janet Reno, addressing a 1991 B'nai B'rith gathering in Ft. Lauderdale "if a bill to ban all handguns were to come to the floor, I would vote for it" Rep Pete Stark "....We need much stricker gun control laws, and should bar all ownership of handguns" Rep Will Clay "Handguns should be outlawed" Elliot Corbett, Secretary, National Council for a Responsible firearms policy "My experience as a street cop suggests that most merchants should not have guns. But I feel stronger about the average person having them..most homeowners..simply have no need to own guns." Joseph McNamara, HCI spokesman, and former Chief of Police of San Jose, California. " I will introduce legislation banning the sale, manufacture or possession of hand guns execpt in a few cases" Sen John Chaffe "Ultimately, I would like to see the manufacture and possession of handguns banned except for military and police. But that's the endgame." US Rep Bobby Rush, Chicago Tribune, December 5, 1999 The only way to discourage the gun culture is to remove the guns from the hands and shoulders of people who are not in the law enforcement business. –– New Your Times, September 24, 1975 The goal is an ultimate ban on all guns, but we also have to take a step at a time and go for limited access first. Joyner Sims, Florida State Health Dept., deputy commissioner Chicago Tribune, November 7, 1993 "Let us take the guns away from the people. Exemptions should be limited to the military, the police and those licensed for good and sufficient reasons. Patrick V. Murphy, New York City Police Commissioner December 7, 1970 "...we are not anxious to rouse opposition before we get the other legislation passed." Letter from J. Elliott Corbett, Secretary National Council for a Responsible Firearms Policy.. June 17, 1968 |

Our side is held to the highest standards by our opponents, so in my opinion, we need to be careful. Posting fake quotes doesn't help anyone. Of course, you're free to do whatever you want within the Coc, but I would hope that you'd want to help advance the cause. |
