My great grandfather's sporterized Springfield was, shall we say, not done with the greatest of precision and I suspect a hand drill. The scope mounts he drilled are not entirely straight and the optic was always shimmed with a piece of a cartridge box cardboard. This arrangement is less than ideal and the optic isn't exactly reliable as far as retaining zero and seems to be getting worse. I suspect the threads aren't holding great anymore. You all sent me to Karl Sokol (RIP) to fix my grandfather's service revolver so I'm asking for another recommendation since you steered me right before. |

Google Gunsmiths in Oklahoma. A lot of independant gunshops in the metro & around the state advertise gunsmiths on site. Just have to call to see if they do basic or in-depth gunsmithing. Only gunsmiths I ever used in metro area was r&s guns in moore to repair my cimmaron arms saa clone and the longtime outofbusiness southwest shooters. The one in tish is murray state college gunsmiths school. |

I hit up Precision Rifle Works. Tyler and I went back and forth over a few emails until he asked about the location of one of the screw holes and when I checked it's partially in and partially out of the bearing surface for the top locking lug, right in the center of the bearing area. That's obviously less than ideal so this project may be done. FWIW the interaction I had was great so A+ from the little I did deal with him. |
